Why I think Hillary Clinton will be more forceful during Bush second term |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 11:47 AM by quinnox
It's no secret a lot of Duers are aggravated Hillary was not more confrontational with Bush during his first four years. I can see why this sentiment would arise, although I'm an ardent Hilllary fan. Why I think Hillary will be more of an opposition force this time around is for a few reasons.
1. Hillary may be entertaining serious thoughts of running in 2008, and a bright spotlight would be to her benefit if she speaks up more.
2. Bush is now a lame duck, with little if any political clout anymore, therefore not much political risk in opposing his policies.
3. She would want to position herself as a clear Democratic leader alternative to Kerry, who also appears to be thinking of another run.
4. Lessons learned; a left turn, even if a slight one, may be the best strategy for Hillary to win down the road.

2. Keep on hoping for that bearing to the left, quinnox! |

This NYer is going to continue to judge Hillary on her record, which to this point has been decidedly centrist, and to simply expect more of the same -- even with the likelihood of tacking slightly more to the right.

4. Hillary just said she's in favor of faith-based funding |
|
She's already begun her pandering right-turn towards the fundies.
Fuck Hillary.

5. Yeah, she's off to such a great start |

with her new found piety and support for government supported religious charity. Ugh. Hillary has completely lost me. I'll do everything I can to be sure she doesn't get the democratic nomination.

7. 4. Lessons learned; a left turn........ |
|
And then, if she should win, a sharp right turn to rejoin her fellow neodems and neocons. Read Q's new post, if you have not yet.

and while Bush himself may be a lameduck, the Reps still have total control of Congress. I have seen nothing in Hillary's speech and behavior that would make me vote for her ever again. Her movement to the center has totally disgusted me.
