question about Abu Greb

I remember reading some reports a few months ago, that there were some deaths under investigation in Abu Greb. I read a detailed account of a prisoner who was soffocated inside of a sleeping bag and died. There was at least one other.

But today all we hear about is the naked prisoners being humilated, and nothing about the deaths.

Does anyone know, whatever happened to those stories about the deaths? I thought they were being investigated but I guess they're just being covered up.

If anyone has more info on these please let me know.

1. I too was wondering this

I was countering someone's argument that the torture was not that bad and all psychological - and I know there was physical abuse as well such as the dog bites and beatings.

Was there a death (or two)?

2. as I remember it was more than one or two

the more I think about it, I believe I heard about it on the Randi Rhodes show and she pointed to an article that was in some publication. It wasn't just hearsay, there were testimonial accounts, direct quotations, etc.

4. IIRC, there were 31 or 34 deaths in custody...

some were attributed to "escape attempts", but many were bodies recieved by families that showed evidence of torture (removed fingernails, singed genitals, etc.
There were even lawsuits (or at least complaints brought) If I remember right...
but I have not heard anything since then.

5. OK, so where is this info?

It's got to be out there somewhere.

It makes me sick when I keep hearing the torture minimalized, just talking about naked people making pyramids, if the truth is that there was real torture and death.

let's try to dig up these old articles, they must exist somewhere. maybe if we pass it on to some of the alternative media, they can raise awareness. but we have to find the info.

Also, I have been wondering about the fact, that only people clearly identified in the publicized photos have been prosecuted. But at the time when the scandal broke, I seem to recall that Congress was viewing thousands of pictures and some video. So my question is this. In those thousands of pictures, are there only 9 different people (The 9 being prosecuted)?
