Faux RW talking points - Byrd (former KKK) attacking black woman today.
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 09:59 AM by Pirate Smile
I flipped by and stopped when I saw the topic and heard the anchor saying "What are the Democrats thinking!!! Having Robert Byrd, a former KKK member, attacking a black women today, Condi Rice!"

Of course, this is what passes for a question on Faux. This question about "what are Dems thinking" goes to Fred Barnes, RW kook who always knows what Dems are thinking. :eyes:

I hate Faux and any encounter is generally by chance so do not feel the need to lecture me on that. I am always amazed at my ability to be continually amazed by how far they will go.

2. I heard Joe Scarborough saying the same thing last night
as I was channel surfing. Needless to say, I kept on clicking.

They are SO pathetic.. Actually I personally am looking very forward to what Mr. Byrd has to say about Condi. Should be pretty interesting...

9. This is absolutely their talking point
Rush has been pounding the "Democrats are racists" theme for (I think) a couple of weeks now, then Scarborough got in on it, and Hannity last night. Of course it's race baiting. It takes the focus off the underlying issues, like poor judgment and lying, and bullies us into silence. But it's all they've got and it forces us to prove a negative - that we're not racist. Look for this to come up every time we question the judgment of anyone who isn't Caucasian. And expect this weapon to show up in the 2006 and 2008 elections.

23. There is a sophisticated talking points "psyops" campaign being waged
by ShrubCo. using their media bitches. It seems obvious that "keywords" and "phrases" are being used by ALL THREE cable news networks in an attempt to affect a low level, mass hypnosis if you will. That is in addition to the plain old technique of flat out lying and deceiving.

Tell every person you know that they are being lied to by cable news.

3. I was wondering ...
when the Repugnantcans would try something like that. It never ceases to amaze me to what levels they will drop. They are the party of racial sensitivity now, right?

They are sleazebags!! I fired off a scathing letter to the Post. There are no levels to which these dispusting pigs won't sink. Why is America being manipulated by a scummy, dwarf-sized Australian??? We need better immigration controls!! Mexicans can stay, Australians get the hell out.

...something the pitiful Right does to distract from the fact that they are the party of true rascists and bigots.

Don't watch FOX. It will hurt your brain and conscience.

12. No one can question Gonzales or Rice because of their race.
These idiots learned the wrong lessons during the Civil Rights Movement. No, I think they know better but they will argue anything if it suits their purpose.

Watching Faux does hurt your brain. Here is what I look like when I happen to end up seeing some of it :wow:

It certainly explains why this country is so polarized and can't even agree on basic facts.

13. It would be exciting if the sniveling little weasels at FOX --
-- would ask Senator Byrd on to discuss his views on Dr. Rice.

Without knowing the man, my guess is that he objects to her blatant lying about national security and not her skin color.

More power to Senator Byrd for making certain that the historical record in the U.S. Senate contains as much actual debate on a controversial nomination as possible.

14. Repugs & The Race Card
Gonzales & Rice are repuglican smokescreens. Being a person of color does not automatically make someone qualified for AG or SOS; it doesn't disqualify them either. It's not even the issue.

Maybe talking points for us Dems should be:
• Race is not the issue, qualifications are the issue
Racists want to make it an issue though.
• Integrity, honesty, and character are issues.
Republicans own inadequacies in these areas are
bad for this country.
• The Constitution is what this country was built on. We
insist it be supported and embraced, despite republicans'
attempts to dismantle it. We think civil liberties are a
GOOD thing!
• etc., etc.

MLK had it right then and he's still right today. Here's our talking point:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

15. This must be the Rove bullet point
I heard a C-Span caller parroting the same words. How lame. An idiot is an idiot, and it would be racist to pretend she's not, just because of the color of her skin.

16. This is just another example of Repugs being Hypocrites
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 11:21 AM by DemGirl7
I'm willing to bet that They won't be saying anything like this if it was some Repug like Trent Lott doing this...but because Byrd is a Democrat who has a problem with Bush & Co., plus a not so great past to go with it, even though he had enough guts to admit his wrongs and condone his past, the pro-republican media is making him out to be the embodiment of Satan, along with the other Democrats who are tagging along, like Boxer. I think the jerks at FOX news and other media outlets need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror before they call anyone names, plus they should seriously take a look at Condi's not so good job performance. I know I would vote against her, because she is a lying, warmongering Bushbot, and I know I'm not a Racist...heck anyone who is level headed enough knows that Condi has done a crappy job...

17. You mean the attack of Rice has nothing to do with the fact that
she was the National Security Adviser who had a memo in Aug of 2001 entitled "Osma determined to attack the US" yet she ignored it and she was the person who was RESPONSIBLE to ensure that we were SECURE NATIONALLY, yet 9/11/01 happened, the worst domestic attack in US history?

They don't like her cause she is black? You have to be kidding me!

20. Obviously a political strategy to accuse not supporting/opposing
Rice with racism. We've all heard the talking points in the last few day's and now Bush is meeting with black leaders all of a sudden.

"WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush is opening the White House this week to black leaders including pastors and legislators, a second-term overture to a community that overwhelmingly opposed his re-election."

http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/25/bush.meeting.ap/

Rove's playing the race card.

21. Byrd recanted is KKK involvement years ago................
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 11:37 AM by CrownPrinceBandar
he was encouraged to join by his adopted father and he admitted that he was fairly ignorant of the agenda of the KKK. Like I have said in the past, I will not give him a pass for his membership, but I'm willing to judge him by his actions since then.

When FAUX and the Repugs run out of legitimate talking points to counter the Dems argument, this is whats left: besmirchment of the character of one of the best in the biz. These are fear tactics.

25. there's no place to refute this point so it will get legs.
cable is an echo chamber.

network news was neutered by the rove-planted CBS TANG forgeries.

NPR is a joke.

it won't get a mention in the NYT, much less your average pro-corporate daily.

how will this talking point be refuted? on DU? Pacifica? FAIR? AA?

please.

26. This is a big problem of ours. You are right. We need to have all the
Democratic pundits, Congresspeople, etc. going on all the shows with the same talking points of our own. That is what we can do now until we can set up a larger framework of our own. Hopefully, they are starting to work on that.
