Hey Ken Salazar, I knew there was a reason I didn't support you
You're a DINO, and a worthless Senator. You're going to be a one-termer because you suck.

BTW, Salazar just said he supports Rice for SoS.

1. Yeah
Let's make voting against Rice a litmus test for all Democrats. That way we can loose even more seats in 2006. Great idea!

7. We don't need seats -- we need Dems who stand for something
Let's make voting against Rice a litmus test for all Democrats. That way we can loose (sic) even more seats in 2006. Great idea!

What's them point of keeping Democrats in office if they don't uphold our values, or vote as if they are Republicans?

I mean, unless your goal is just to open up jobs on the Hill for democratic staffers, or make life lucrative for Democrat lobbyists -- in which case you're right, all that matters is the "D" after the senators' names.

Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 01:00 PM by tridim
and you'll get exactly what you want. Republican lite.

I'm not falling for it, I'll continue to support real Democrats. For the record, I voted for Salazar. It's not like I really had a choice.. It was either him or the Nazi drug dealer, Pete Coors.

22. DINO?
You label him a DINO based upon a single vote? Give me a break. If Salazar complies a Republican-lite voting record over the next couple years I'll start listening to your complaints. Till then you're obviously just a whiner who doesn't tolerate anyone who disagrees with you on anything.

24. DINOS Only Exist On This Board...
I see Dianne Feinstein got the DINO tag...

She has a 90% ADA rating....

Blue voters in red states would die to have a senator like her...

Some well intentioned but politically naive people on this board couldn't come up with a program that would get their candidate elected dog catcher...

14. Salazar Is New...
A fairer comparison would be Bayh and Lugar since Bayh is usually referred to here as GOP lite...

I'll bet Bayh's ADA scores are in the 70's while Lugar is in the 10's or so....

17. The opposite....
Even folks we call DINOS on this board like Joe Lieberman, Hillary Clinton, and Evan Bayh have infinitely more progressive voting records than their Republican colleagues...

http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_detail.php?sig_id=002936M

Here's an example:

IN U.S. Senate Sr Richard G. Lugar Republican 10
IN U.S. Senate Jr B. Evan Bayh Democrat 75

I'd rather have somebody who votes with us 75% of the time than somebody who votes with us 10% of the time....

Wouldn't you?

which was our choice

if you lived here you would know that

since you don't live here

why do you even care?

let me rephrase that in your vernacular

why the FUCK do you even care?

19. Because Salazar Is A Senator And His Vote Affects All Of Us
That being said the animus against centrist Dems is misplaced as I demonstrated in an earlier post in this thread...

Walt should click on it and see the difference between so called DINOS and Republican voting patterns...

Renowned DU DINO Dianne Feinstein had an ADA rating of 90%....

What do these people want?

23. Not really
Given that in this case even if every Democrat voted against Rice she would still be approved, a vote against would be merely symbolic.

32. Not true. If every Democrat was set to vote no, then they could filibuster
If every Democrat except for 5 were willing to vote no, they could still filibuster.

Filibuster means no SOS.

The Repukes did this to Clinton on the Surgeon General position.

28. it's just that I find the post I responded to
the usual "trash a democrat at every opportunity" whining, sniveling crap I've come to expect from DU.

I'm not thrilled with Salazar's position on this either, although I expected it - and as his constituent I intend to *respectfully* tell him why.

What do these people want? A forum to beat their chests and tear their hair out on...

13. Presidents should get thier nominees
although I hate Rice and Gonzales and think they are terrible choices, I will not disparage Democrats that vote to confirm.

Soon, I hope, a democrat will once again occupy the white house. And if the GOP continues to control congress they will make his nomination process hell the more partisan the confirmation vote is. not a good or even worthwhile reason but a likely one.

Salazar is a good Democrat. A vote on a CABINET appointment doesn't change that. He's moderate as you must be to win statewide in Colorado.
