5. I think she indicated she would vote for confirmation,
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 12:53 PM by moobu2
Seems like I read that somewhere last week.

I admire the democrats who so far have voted against but people have to remember, it's the presidents policies (and right wing think tanks) that got us where we are today not Conaoleeza's. If she were to be refused confirmation, Bush would just get another unethical, lying piece of crap to take her place.

I'm thrilled to see the democrats pointing out all the lies but sadly, she will be confirmed no matter what any of them do.

6. Exactly...
And that's why a vote against Rice is so easy...

It is symbollically powerful...

I will look askance at Democratic senators in "safe" seats who vote for her...

I am willing to cut some slack to Democrats who face tough races in 06 like my senator Bill Nelson....

9. Yes, it was Bush policy that got us where we are
But she was one of the lying spokespeople who went out & sold his policy, including the war.

She consistently lied, distorted & twisted facts, & that should disqualify her.

I think Hill will vote aye.

11. No excuse.
Rice has been proven to be an incompetent liar. It doesn't matter whether or not the Republicans have enough votes to confirm her, that it totally irrelevant to the right or wrong of each Senators vote. And any Senator who votes to confirm her is not fulfilling their constitutional duty.

7. IMO, she'll vote no
Like others have said, it's a free vote since Rice will be confirmed anyway. She (HRC) can cast a symbolic no, which can't hurt her and could help a lot with those who think she's becoming GOP-lite.

14. 10:1 says she votes to confirm
She's running to the right, expecting the base will line up behind her in '08.

17. As a NYer, I've gotten used to her disappointing me...
I'll actually consider a "yea" vote par for the course. A "nay" would be a welcome surprise.
