any guesses as to what this term's 9/11 will be? |

Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 03:00 PM by colonel odis
what will the neocons do this time out to keep amurkans in line? to snatch up a few more civil liberties? to distract from bush's failures in office?
not that the first 9/11 didn't work well for them, basically making it unpatriotic to criticize bush. but here we are, 3 1/2 years down the road. people will start to question him again. his illegitimate claim to office will come up again -- not to mention his sterling incompetence.
so what will the far right do to scare/rally everyone? any guesses?
a turrist strike in the heartland? a trumped-up attack on our forces, a la tonkin gulf? a key assassination -- bush? cheney? (not sure many would care if that one happened.) poppy? the twins? (budweiser sales would sure fall if that ever took place.) a bombing of the supreme court with the "unfortunate" deaths of moderate to left-leaning justices?
exactly how low WILL they go?

2. They only needed one Reichstag Fire. |

I’m sorry to say, we are past that point. They don’t need any other huge event. The Dan Rather smackdown of the media was the sort of event we will see from now on, nothing big, just several significant events to keep everyone in line.

They used 9/11 to justify going into Iraq, and about half of the USA (and far too many Democrats) bought into it. They will use 9/11 to justify going into Iran, Syria, Bangladesh and maybe even Canada, Belgium or Lichtenstein if they have to - it won't matter because we no longer need real evidence to attack someone.
We are in a permanent state of war. When one enemy has been vanquished, two more will rise to take his place. We will always be threatened and the mainstream Media's fetish for fear, or their pandering to OUR fetish for fear, will keep enough of the people rabid enough to fool all of the time...

5. They don't need anything, not like they really did anything to begin with. |
|
Sure, in hind sight the administration possibly could have stopped 9/11, but it's irrational to think that they would cause a catastrophy unless it was:
1) on foreign soil (domestic attacks are subject to public investigation) 2) to justify attacking Syria/Iran (which is already probably in the works)
Come on- don't get kooky all conspiracy on us.

6. Nothing Kooky about it. |

Perhaps you need to look at all the facts again. An attack on foreign soil would have done nothing to seal our fate. Cheney planned and executed this with precise deliberation.
