Condi Rice’s confirmation hearing

Because of President Reagan's steadfast determination, hundreds of millions of people tasting that sweet nectar of liberty in central Europe are now friends and allies," said Senator Allen.

On the 2004 election

Ronald Reagan's election changed the dynamic of the Cold War from one of containment and co-existence to the advancement of freedom. As a result, hundreds of millions of people in Central Europe, once behind the Iron Curtain, now taste the sweet nectar of liberty, have joined NATO, and are true friends and allies.

Senator Allen's Tribute to President Reagan
June 8, 2004

But President Reagan believed the blessings of liberty must not be bestowed only on a few nations and only to those blessed to be born on free soil; Ronald Reagan, with the strength of his convictions, exported and advanced democracy to continents, countries, and people yearning to taste the sweet nectar of liberty.

GOVERNOR ALLEN SELECTED AS "JEFFERSON SCHOLAR"

He also pointed to North Korea, China, Iraq, Cuba and other countries where "there are people who have never truly tasted freedom's sweet nectar.

7. This is the second thread I have started on this strange phrase
the first was during the confirmation committee meeting.

The strangest part is that he seems to think this is a winning line.

What an idiot.

10. I'm loving this trashing of George Allen!!
I just cannot abide him.

When I heard that "Sweet Nectar of Liberty" I had to put the mute on.

His voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Please, please Mark Warner, run against this fool....

14. Hey he really has done well for a 4th string UVa QB*
*of course that was back in the day when UVa football was only slightly above the club level of play and they carried Allen around because his father was the coach of the 'Skins and Allen just kept showing up. He used a picture of him in a game in one of his campaigns, apparently it was a real "Rudy moment" it was the only time he EVER got into a game.

He has the hard and true VuhGINya Republicans wrapped up but hopefully Mark Warner will run against him and Mark DID get elected Governor

Allen has been out of sight for a while too.

23. The dumbest person ever to be called "Senator"
The quintessential "empty suit". A male Bimbo. The classic Box of Rocks. A man with a jock strap mentality. The beneficiary of cultural nepotism. An intellectual midget.

Plus he has small hands.

28. Nectar with Cream?
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 05:30 PM by Al-CIAda
I've heard of 'nectar with cream' in a snowball.
Its certainly 'sweet'.

Its called a pink lady though, not too masculine...

One thing is clear though, his speech has just as much a snowballs' chance in hell of convincing me to buy into his hallow rhetoric.
