Sen Lieberman spoke FOR Rice today. LET HIM KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!
Senator Joe Lieberman spoke up for Condaleeza Rice today. I was so
outraged to hear an excerpt of his speech today. He said the Senate should confirm her to show the world that we're united behind the president. What we're really united on is our opposition to the lies of the administration.

I sent Lieberman a message telling him what I really think of his support of her confirmation.

If you want to join me, you can go to

Let him know we're watching.....

31. Fax or email him this form letter not to run again
AGREEMENT NOT TO RUN FOR RE-ELECTION - TO BE SENT TO THOSE CONSIDERING NOT BLOCKING THE NOMINATION OF CONDOLEEZZA RICE.

I _______________(name of Senator) from the State of ______________(name of state) agree not to run for re-election. Through my failure to oppose the nomination of Condoleezza Rice, I have demonstrated that I lack the intelligence and integrity needed to represent the people of my state. When Condoleezza Rice saw a memo titled "Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States" prior to 9/11, it did not occur to her that Bin Laden was determined to attack inside the United States. Now, though I may have also lacked the intelligence to make that connection, there are a great many other Americans who do have the intelligence to make that connection who are eligible to become Secretary of State. Ms. Rice helped lead the charge to war with two countries who were less responsible for 9/11 than the incompetence of Ms. Rice. She worked to make the whole world hate us. As a result of the actions of Ms. Rice, Americans are in more danger now than ever before. If Ms. Rice continues this pattern as Secretary of State, the future of all Americans will be in grave danger. I lack the concern for the American people and the integrity to block this nomination and demand we do better. In failing to block this incompetent war-monger of African American origin, I am also demonstrating my racist belief that the best African-American for the job is a stupid war-mongerer and that we can find no better African-American for the job. In conclusion, I will never again run for public office because I am a stupid, gullible Senator who has no concern for the welfare of my constituents or the American people.

2. is this a *surprise*?
Doesn't surprise me only tiny little bit. Joe needs to join the Republican party. Maybe he'd make a future presidential candidate. I cannot, will not and never will support Joe Lieberman on any level given his past record.

Just saying YES to Condo is no surprise.

Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 04:24 PM by BullGooseLoony
Lieberman, I really disagree with you selling out the national security of our country and supporting this administration in their foreign policy, which is almost entirely based on lies. I think that you're doing your country a disservice when you throw away hundreds of billions of dollars, support the killing of 1,000's of American soldiers and 10,000's of innocent Iraqis, allow our good name to be dragged through the mud, and tie up 100,000's of our troops in this pointless war in Iraq. Oh, and in the middle of the war on terror. For your own political and monetary gain, probably.

Yes, that's a "disservice" to your country, sir. I disagree with it.

Thank you.

8. My comment to him
was appalled to find out that you support Condaleeza Rice for Secretary of State after the number and magnitude of her lies to the Congress about 9/11 and Iraq. I am glad I did not support you for president in the democratic Primaries and will actively seek to see you defeated in the democratic Primary in Connecticut for Senator.

She’d be replacing another black and Powell’s predecessor, Madeleine Albright, is a female and also an immigrant!

LIEberman is in the wrong party as is Zell Miller.

11. My letter to Joe:
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Teddy Roosevelt

I think that you should bear this quote in mind when thinking about he confirmation of "Dr." Rice. Her performance as NSA has been riddled with lies, failures, and misstatements. The policies she has worked towards have hurt our standing with those who should be our allies. She is wholly unqualified to be promoted to SOS, and standing behind her simply because you feel that you must support the president in his mistakes, is once again an example of your failure to your party, your country, and to the American people.

16. I sent him a message
Here's what I sent him:

"Hi Senator Lieberman. I feel compelled to send you a email relating my shock and displeasure that a distinguished member of the Democrat party such as yourself would stand up for such an obvious liar that Mrs Rice is, and the whole Bush administration for that matter."

"Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy Sir, and the best thing that the leaders of the Democrat party can do, is take advantage of every opportunity to expose ALL the lies and dishonesty that is, and has come out of the Bush administration to promote a war."

"This isn't obstructionism, this isn't unpatriotic. On the contrary Sir, it's totally and historically very patriotic to question the President and keep the check & balances operating - so as to keep things more honest. And any move to obstruct the killing that's going on based on lies and deception - can only be a good thing."

24. My letter to Lieberman - does he have any useful purpose to the Dems
I am so ashamed that you choose to call yourself a Democrat. Your speech on the floor of the Senate today in defense of Rice as Secretary of State was appalling to all freedom and peace loving citizens.

Rice is a central component of this administration's failed policies and to give her nomination your support and vote is very disappointing. Our country can not take four more years of the same as the last four years. And Democrats need to send the message to the White House and the GOP that we are going to fight tooth and nail on each and every indication they plan on doing business as usual. Nothing in Rice's resume indicts that she is in any way up to this task. We have had a four year on the job training as Security Adviser and she has failed miserably. Her non-answers answers in the committee were pathetic and sorely lacking in depth, breath or understanding. And you let her get away with it. The only recommendation that can be said of Rice is that Bush likes her. Too bad the rest of the world hates her and her boss's agenda and she will be totally inadequate to deal in my country's name for the rough times ahead.

I am very sorry that Al Gore selected you as his running mate in 2000 if your convictions for demanding the best qualified people to lead this country is so misguided. I will never vote for any ticket that graces your name again.

Thank you for listening.

27. You inspired me! Here's my letter.
Senator Lieberman,

Your speech today defending Rice was a disgrace. I am extremely disappointed that you, a highly visible and influential "Democrat," would choose to endorse Rice as Secretary of state.

You are one of many Democrats who have disappointed and even betrayed your party by rolling over for the right. You no longer represent the party's ideals--instead, you present yourself as a watered-down neocon. The Democratic party will NEVER be able to regain what we've lost so long as we continue to behave in such a weak and ingratiating way. It's like handing over our lunch money to the school bully and then licking his boots.

Furthermore, Rice will only further alienate the United States from our allies and confirm our negative image already so prevalent across the world. Do we not value ideals such as truth, frankness, and good will anymore? Rice embodies the dishonest, dissembling, maverick character of this administration and can hardly be expected to successfully negotiate a diplomatic appointment.

You have let your party down and you should be ashamed of yourself. Although I'm very sorry that Mr. Gore was not "selected" in 2000, I am certainly relieved that someone like you is not my Vice President.

Just become a Republican already, Joe. You're not even hiding it anymore.

To all those who defend him here and elsewhere, take a look at what this man is saying. There's no way to defend this.

What a traitor to the Democratic Party! What a total fuck-head. This guy has to go and soon. He should be opposed in his next primary. The man lacks any modicum of integrity or intelligence. He is Gore's biggest mistake.

32. Here's what I sent
I am a veteran and I am outraged that you would praise Rice today at her confirmation hearings!

She is one of the few people who should be held accountable for the deaths of almost 1400 US soliders and 10,000 wounded soliders.

She lied to Congress. She lied to the American people and you say that Democrats should confirm her to show that we "stand behind the President"?!?

The President, if you haven't checked lately, has about a 44% approval rating. Over 60% of Americans do not support the war in Iraq.

And have you wondered why there has been no poll on Dr. Rice? Think that could be because Americans would overwhelmingly disapprove of her and her lies?

I am disgusted with you. I am disappointed in you. You make me ashamed to be a Democrat.
