6. That's a good point... |
|
...it would be like going on strike for one day; and not telling management you're doing it; and doing it out of sight of management.

11. Well, it's like you're going to work 16 hours either the day before |
|
or after to make up for it too.
Companies do their books monthly or quarterly. A one day dip will not even show up.

How could it have been anything but ineffective? It was a meaningless protest.

5. It was not a meaningless protest |
|
Was it ineffective? Yes. Did we expect it to be effective? Absolutely not. Are most protests ineffective? Definitely.
But it was a protest, and like any other protest, it wasn't meant to acheive any direct, immediate result. Protests are devices of message used by people who have no power and seek fundamental change. The objective and meaning of this protest was to send the message that there is still a significant majority of the population who are so opposed to this misAdministration that they are willing to give up all spending and consumption for a day. Since the news of the protest easily spread into the mainstream, it can be considered a success.
We are completely out of power and its getting harder and harder to get our message out. So you can expect many more forms of protests in the next 4 years.

7. I disagree...not meaningless |
|
Sometimes it's a matter of personal principles. I DO NOT shop at various places....Wal-mart is one. Will they be hurt financially because I don't shop there....no. However, I can look in the mirror every morning and know that I am doing my small part of not supporting certain corporations.
Cheers, Kim

That you post on a non-Clinton, non-Clark thread, against something ELSE - is proof positive it made its point. Thanks.

The point was made. "We ain't buying your BS" Also, too bad you missed the fun as thread after thread on Jan 21 was posted as to personal stories, comments in the communities. Instead, you post a freeper magnet post factum dissmissive thread. Too bad for ya.

16. I'm sure it wasn't noticed in Inauguration Day, given the massive |
|
influx of $$$$$$$ by those traveling in and around Washington DC for the coronation.
Maybe we should have one every month? I'm game.
