Sending flowers or something to Senator Byrd was mentioned yesterday,
has it gone any further? I just called and spoke with both offices of my Senators from Texas (waste of time, but necessary, they should both get more calls from us), is DU ready willing and able to do something for Byrd, Boxer and Dayton? Let me know, I'm ready on my very own just to send my very own bouquet to Senator Byrd, out of simple respect, who wants to join in?

1. I'm saving my flower money
I'd rather send an email of support, letting them know I'll donate to their next campaign if they run again.

2. Thank you. I proposed that and hoped that it would garner support
I think Sen. Byrd is tired and thought a man of his age needed some love from people who take him for granted. He is up there in age and I thought some flowers would show appreciation for all he's done and stood for (not referring to old time race issues). I certainly think this will be his last term in the Senate and thought it would be a good idea if he was thanked immediately.

I'm reminded of my grandson, teasing me about my age with the rejoinder "Grandmamma, don't buy any green bananas." So, I thought the time to send the great Sen. Byrd flowers was now.

That said, as well as being old (relative, I'm sure), I am a senior living on SS, and am fiscally challenged. I'm still trying to save some money to donate to DU, so, until that is accomplished, I'm afraid all I could do was suggest this would be lovely gesture. I hope other DUers who are better off than I, will donate and send some flowers in appreciation for his long service and his loyalty to the cause.

3. Done, I'm going to do it myself and say thanks on behalf of all DU.
If anyone else wants to help out, please pm me.
