Columnist paid to promote Bush policy

Items compiled from Tribune news services
Published January 26, 2005

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A syndicated columnist, who has repeatedly supported the Bush administration's push for a $300 million initiative to encourage marriage, also had a $21,500 federal contract to help promote the proposal, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Maggie Gallagher had a $21,500 contract with the Department of Health and Human Services. It ran from January through October 2002 and included drafting a magazine article for the department official overseeing the initiative, the Post reported.

"Did I violate journalistic ethics by not disclosing it?" Gallagher was quoted as saying Tuesday. "I don't know. You tell me."

in a long line I'm sure. I hope someone finds the Fox connection pretty soon, I know it exists. I'll also bet Powell's resignation from the FCC is related due to pressure from this administration on him to drop the investigations.

2. I'm filing this info
under stories we might never hear the conclusion of. Williams, Plame, 9/11 unexpurgated report, etc. That's some big hold on the media.

3. I am sure there are dozens more just like these whores
If the media is getting paid then the fact that we call them whores is valid and justified.

6. Equal pay for women
Geez, the republicans want to keep women down. Maggie worked nearly a year for 21k and Armstrong gets ten times that amount. I'm sure Armstrong didn't work ten times as long and certainly not ten times as hard.

7. yes. so "isolated incident" was another lie
the administrations first impulse is to lie. and then lie again and again when the truth dribbles out. like a foolish kid trying to keep the story straight.

my bet would be that this is widespread. i wouldnt be surprised if millions of our tax dollars went into buying propaganda.
