1. You mean the "military-industrial-congressional complex"?

That was the original term that Ike wanted to use in his farewell address to the nation. He dropped the term "Congressional" after coming to the conclusion that it was too inflammatory.

Personally, I think he should have left it in. It was a much more accurate representation of the tangled web that exists between Congress, the Pentagon, and the military contractor industry.
