Reid's head so far up his ass, he is turning inside out |
|
From today's New York Times... ________________________________________________________________________ And while the Senate's Democratic leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, voted in favor of Ms. Rice, he said he was disappointed that the White House and some Republican lawmakers had tried to "stifle debate" on the nominee.
"Our Founding Fathers meant for us to carefully consider the matters brought before us, and make sure our government does not act irrationally and does not act without a plan and vision for our country's future," Mr. Reid said in a statement. "Silence is not an important part of American history. Debate is." ________________________________________________________________________
Well Harry, I guess debate is an important part of American history but voting your principles is not. I wonder if the dust bin of American history is an important part. See ya there! Bye!

1. What if he believes in allowing a president to choose his cabinet? |
|
Like Feingold does? Where does that leave your invective?

If he wants to approve a documented repeat perjerer who engineered the false rush to war and who said that diplomacy was the least favorite part of her job for Secretary of State, I guess he should do that.
Actually, if the framers wanted the president to be free to choose his cabinet, they would not have asked the Senate to be involved.
I think my invective is intact.

12. Ever heard of oversight? |
|
What is the purpose of having representatives if they just rubberstamp the Presidential choices? And Feingold id dead wrong on this. Why should this moran , whose choices have been an utter disaster, have his choice in anything? Unless of course, you somehow respect his ability to make a decent choice?

"What if he believes in allowing a president to choose his cabinet?"
I just cannot understand that reasoning. If Reid supports Boxer, then he must believe her allegations against Rice. He then votes to confirm anyway? I find that behavior very puzzling.

Reid respects her belief, and supports her actions to express it. I don't see what's so hard about this?

25. That is a lame-ass Repuke talking point EXCUSE |
|
There is advice and consent to protect the American people from having unqualified or unsuitable people appointed to important posts.
The president gets to pick the cabinet he wants, but not someone that the country thinks (through its congresspersons) cannot do the job.
I can't agree with anyone who falls for such a quixotic rationale for letting Al Capone choose his gang with impunity.
