Job Description needed for National Security Advisor...
Hey DUer's, I'm trying to explain that Condi's job description as National Security Advisor had to do with NATIONAL SECURITY to some freepoids who are saying 9/11 was Clinton's fault.

I can't find the text of the National Security Act of 1947 (PL 235 - 61 Stat. 496; U.S.C. 402).

I'm sure somewhere in there it explains that the National Security Advisor's job has something to do with national security.
(Remember - these are Freeper-types we're talking about... what's obvious to us is what requires years of schooling for them to understand.)

If anyone has Ideas, or even some zealous derision, I'd love to hear it.

1. Requirement: Be Bush's mistress and help him kill people
If Americans are in danger, let them die. Well, that's the way she saw her job.

5. It's sort of everyone's fault for the last, oh, 50+ damn years

Osama declared war on the US long before 9/11; that's true. Richard Clarke pretty much made that clear to everyone. However, if they're going to blame Clinton, then logically one would have to point the finger at Bush as well for ignoring warning signs in the months up to 9/11. Hell, if we take a step back further, one could arguably point the finger at Reagan as well for helping to arm folks fighting the Red Army who would later become the base for Al Qaida.

The federal government has been in the business of destabilizing and overthrowing Arab democracies and supporting dictatorships and oligarchies for decades under both Democratic and Republican administrations. Very very few who have sat in the White House over the decades are free from the blood guilt here. It's not just in the Middle East but also in Africa and South America from Pinochet in Chile to Sese Seko in the DRC (then Zaire).

We failed to hold our leaders accountable over the decades on this issue. We collectively failed to stop their lust for power and wealth compromising security over the years. It is a total systemic failure. There's a price to pay for this, and payment will be in blood. Pointing fingers at each other won't change this fact or address the problems.

6. Agreed... Indeed, that is what is at the very heart of this issue...
I have always been critical of the activities of our government regardless of affiliation. It is my belief that Americans should be informed and self-educated to recognize governmental activities that are counterproductive or detrimental to the national organism.

I have always found myself speaking against policies that are obviously flawed in terms of long-range security and prosperity for all.

Once again I find myself trying to reason with the unreasonable.

It is not their fault, of course. The powers that be have understood the methods of beguiling public opinion for... well, for centuries.
We are at a point, however, where the general populus has access to enough information to become the arbiters of their own self-interest rather than placing all faith in a governing body because of lack of interest, education, time, or resources.

We are so close... and we are about to lose that chance at finding out what a truly transparent Democracy can accomplish.

Thank you for your insights.
