he will be running for President again in 2008.
He will discuss his "Children's Bill"....he will discuss why he voted "Nay" on Rice...that he will vote "Nay" on Gonzales, etc., etc...

Put Kids First is obviously a reference to the menu.
See, that's why I'm a Kerry supporter. I don't have kids.

11. The Results of this Poll is Hilarious! People actually think that Kerry's |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 12:33 AM by radio4progressives
going to get down all of a sudden? He's gonna talk about Election Fraud in Ohio? uh... well he might have to respond to a question or two about it obviously, but he's going to talk like the end results were factually legitimate, with no question in his mind.
C'mon folks! wake up! Impeach Bush? Yea right! He should have done that during the campaign! He didn't then, and he won't now.
He will have some strong words about Bush and his administration's policies from the troubling signal from the inaugeral speach, and he'll need to respond to his decision to vote no on Condi Rice, but so? In the end, he's going to just give a Senator's pov on things and that's about it folks. don't expect much else.
We need earth shattering, bold and courageous action now.
But we're not going to see that from Kerry.. Only a few words that will sound good and will resonate with us (like during the campaign sometimes)but dats about it folks.
Just for clarity, I'd would just love to be proven wrong, but i won't be.

17. ELECTION DIARY NOV 2, 2004 |
|
ELECTION DIARY NOV 2, 2004
0600: Wakey wakey, eggs 'n bakey. Kicked my hound dogs out of bed. Turned to my wife (or first cousin, same thing) and told her I didn't want to catch her wearing shoes again today. "Fix me sum griyats, woman!"
0615: Lukewarm beer from a half-empty can is a poor breakfast...but they don't mail the welfare checks until next week. Why can't they hold elections when a man can git' properly likkered up?
0830: Man....what happened? I guess that lukewarm beer packs more of a whollup then I thought.
0845: Picked up white sheet and pointy hat from cleaners. Am happy to see that that they got out all of the soot stains from last weeks cross burning.
0900: Stood outside polling place intimidating colored voters. My "You're going to hell godless Kerry sinners" chant was particularly well received.
1000: Posted signs all over town that Democrats vote on November 3rd.
1115: Called sister for date. No luck. Dairy Queen won't let her take a long lunch break.
1230: Made an out of state campaign volunteer "squeal like a pig" if you know what I mean. We don't want no homos in our town.
1300: Voted. I think I voted for Bush but can't be sure due to my first grade reading level. Pulled the lever next to the Elephant so I think it worked.
1315: Lied on an exit poll. Had to have it read to me by by cousin Cletis who graduated eighth grade Summa Cum Laude. He puts on airs but eighth grade is about as far as it gets when it comes to education so he has a right to be proud.
1500: Voted again, this time with a provisional ballot.
1530: Voted again. Same. Cousin Enis working the polls pretended he didn't know me....which was hard for him to do because I am the father of at least three of his twelve children.
1600: Getting tired of disenfranchising black voters. I think people don't realize how hot and restricitve Klan regalia really is. The fabric just doesn't breathe and I have been sweating like a P-I-G hog for the last two hours. I think a lighter linen or silk would be a better choice for this climate.
1700: Polls closing, just enough time to vote again before driving back across the tracks to make sure no colored people slip through. Hot thirsty work. Republican operatives distribute cold Pabst Blue Ribbon to all of us. Wow! Premium beer! None of that third-rate Meisterbrau.
1900: Fell asleep watching the news.

18. Kerry is at his best when he is true to his core |
|
When he connects, he does it well, like his ability to relate to soldiers as brothers. But, his experience is limited and as someone who had a sheltered and priviliged life, Kerry doesn't seem to have the innate ability to relate to the common person, outside of personal experience. He is not a natural populist and these times demand that kind of appeal.
When Kerry is truest to his ethical self- he connects the best.

not when intellects are not populists and distance themselves, or worse, look down on the electorate.
Kerry's affectation and "nuance" is not straightforward. He has been too sheltered within his class and within the Senate, to get it.
