"first black women as SOS; first Hispanic AT--I have hearing this
refrain over and over in the news shows form the Republicans. they say it is a shame that in a country that is trying to promote 'opportunity'--the Dems are trying to slow done opportunity.
It is so maddening that these shows--news reports bring on a Republican and they say this --and have no else to contradict them.

NJ Congressman Roy Blunt----is on Fox spounting this right now

1. I'm a minority here's my question. I now can lie and break the law all I
want and I will get a promotion at work right?

2. This is true, of course, but they fail to mention
that they're probably the worst examples of the people of those races and will do nothing to promote those races in the future or endear them to their own people.

In fact, these people may set back race relations with their incompetence.

5. If minorities want role models to aspire to
that are slaves and criminals.

6. I saw Frist surrounded by the Black Women's Causus the other day.

It was so sad--he uses 'race' to his benefit.

7. I am African American...
and I hate Condi, but the Dems need to more effectively counterpunch this argument ASAP, at least compared to what I have seen. All they need to do is ask a few key questions:
1.Which party just tried to get rid of Affirmative Action?
2.Which party uses code words, such as "state rights" to boost suspicions among white southern voters?
3.Which party places flyers that list wrong voting dates in Black neighborhoods?
4.Which party fought against Hate-crime legislation?
5.Which party was responsible for the lack of voting machines in Black districts?
There are more, and it may be difficult to ask these questions, but after watching Andrew Young's performance defending that liar condi yesterday, just because she is black, and as smart as he is, it is clear that there is cause for concern.

8. Proves minorities do have to be qualified
Democrats don't believe in promoting unqualified people just because they're minorities, contrary to right wing opinion. So there.

9. I have read comments at other boards
referring to yesterday as a "sad day" for Democrats because a Black woman was chosen for this position.
What a load of crap. The only people I have heard refer to Ms. Rice's gender or race have been Repubs.

I suppose they were partially correct though. It is always a sad day when a proven liar is allowed to be in
(or retain) a position of such power. Truly, a sad day for us all.

10. Rublicans are racists, unpure and simple...

Rove calls Condi and Gonzi his "Untouchables."

Promoting right-wing liars and torturers who happen to be people of color so that they are "untouchable" because of color is racist.

I am saddened that these two people have no dignity that they would allow themselves to be used in this manner and to the detriment of all people of color.
