Toll-free capitol line disconnected (800-839-5276)?
I just called 800-839-5276 (US Capitol switchboard). It worked yesterday but today a recording says "the number you have called has been disconnected....."

Anyone else?

1. They disconnected it!
Someone needs to get the corporate media whores in on this! Our leaders want to charge us to communicate with them, they couldn't handle the calls we were making!

2. Didn't work from here in Seattle either
Maybe someone didn't pay the bill!

I did a google on "800-839-5276" and you gets lots of hits. Maybe some astroturf RW lobbying group has everything swamped.

3. Interesting
I just called 1-800-FED-INFO and the person who took the call said there's never been a toll free number for the Capitol building!

So I called the 202-224-3121 number for the Capitol and the operator was very nice. She said that there has in fact never been any toll free number for the Capitol building, but what some companies and lobbying groups do is purchase temporary toll free numbers to give out to their constituents or clients when they want people to call on a specific piece of legislation or issue.

Here's a list of all the toll-free numbers that are permanent:
