(This was my reply in another thread in GD, but I think it's important to highlight the need to check our emotions and get back to our core message. I do not assume any authority or wisdom, it's just a suggestion.)

Once said, the content of their character is brought to the fore.

If the race card is played again, it is easily turned around, and then the truth, that we judged the nominees not on the color of their skin but on the content of their character is reiterated. One can then recite the character issues. When the argument comes to the character of the nominees, and their records, the right loses.

Now, to be sure, people have used the RW race card ploy on this forum. It is seen in many threads. Please, avoid the trap. Stick to the truth. We are liberals. We judge these nominees not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. And in doing so we find the nominees to be unfit for the appointments.

Stick to the truth. Do not be sucked in to the personal emotional and political diversions.

actually said something accurate in an unexpected way about racisim. He said (paraphrasing): why hate someone for the color of their skin when if you spend five minutes talking to them you'll find plenty of valid reasons to hate them.

It was such an unexpected way to re-phrase the old "don't judge people by the color of their skin" and anytime I've repeated it, people really do take notice & usually laugh & nod their heads in agreement.
