Rethug values: No abortions. But if you're born, sick and poor, go die. |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 01:08 PM by Cyrano
This really comes as no news to anyone who gets it. "Pro-lifers" only care about fetuses. Once they're born, fuck 'em. Especially if they were stupid enough to be born into a poor family, or have any kind of disability, illness, disease, or anything else that may cost society money. Live, die, whatever. Who gives a shit? After all, "That's God's will."
Right-wing fundies who believe this crap are some of the worst human beings in the world. (Is that judgmental? You bet.)
Trying to compromise with these people is like selling your soul to the devil. So Hillary, get your head out of your ass. You know they'll never meet us half way. And if it's just a political ploy to pull in so-called "undecided voters," that makes you just another political shill who will say or do anything to get elected.

2. Hillary "reached out to them yesterday." |
|
Compromise may be too strong a term, but she had to know she was wasting her time and that they'd just spit on her hand.
Who was the real audience for this particular piece of show biz?

3. So she didn't compromise anything. |
|
Then what is the complaint? She played nice? She didn't insult them? She helped them understand that democratic policies help them to achieve their own stated goals?
Where's my pitchfork?

8. she was speaking our values |
|
She was speaking our values and making it very clear that *we* are the ones who are working to prevent unintended pregnancies and reduce abortions and the pro-lifers are not. If/when the pro-lifers fail to reach back, it reveals that they are not interested in reducing abortions, refusing to reduce abortions because they would rather punish women for having sex. The public (especially the misled middle-ground pro-lifers) need to recognize this so they can join us.
I was thrilled that she finally articulated the pro-health, pro-safety, pro-Preventing-pregnancies, pro-effective problem solving stance of the pro-choice community. We have the moral high ground on this issue so we need to articulate it well, loudly, and often to make sure everyone knows it.

5. I agree with you completely. |
|
If abortions were outlawed, would the fundies take all the unwanted children into their homes? The kids of "another" race? The kids of more than one race? The kids of crack addicts? The Aids-infected kids? The kids with fetal alcohol syndrome? The kids with learning disabilities because their mothers weren't nourished? The sick kids? The disabled kids? The kids who aren't cute, blond and blue eyed? No, of course they wouldn't. If there were no abortions there would be large warehouses of unadoptable orphans throughout the country. No one has every addressed the issue of what to do with all the kids nobody wants. These people need to get beyond fetus love.

6. I suggest that in every church |
|
that preaches that women NEED to give up the control of their lives to the state, institute an adoption center within that church and I suggest they report at every Sunday mass, how many of the faithful sign up to adopt an unwanted child.
Who thinks or can think of the excuses given by those self righteous indviduals who call themselves "pro-live" can find all kinds of reason to NOT adopt these unwanted children. For instance: They have five children already, they cannot afford it, they are finally free when their children left the nest and do not want to tackle that again and etc. etc. Exactly the same reasons that women would give for not carrying to term a blob of cells.
Let them adopt! Let them organize within the church to adopt!
HOw much do you want to bet that the majority of the self righteous womb nannies, will opt out?

10. Add: "if you're terminally ill, go die naturally, and in agonizing pain." |
|
Euthanasia ain't allowed, either. And, if you happen to wind up facing the death penalty for a crime you didn't commit, please, kiss your ass goodbye.
Freeper-fundies want to get you coming and going.
