Letter to elected officials
I plan on sending this out to any of our elected officials that I can get their email addys--but I need to know if it is too over the top and crazy sounding before I do?lol. I woke up at 4 am this am inspired to write this and that is crazy.

Dear ____________,

How is history going to judge your service to your country as an elected official of this government and the nation? Are you comfortable with the decisions you are making in these crucial days that have come and are coming? Will your record reflect your willingness to pass a fair voting act and upholding Constitutional principles in the spirit in which they were intended? Will your record reflect nominating substandard, incompetent candidates to the Supreme Courts and cabinet with favor? Will your record reflect a willingness to step up and pull our troops out of harms way when the clear picture shows that we overstepped our authority? Will you be judged for serving your country or will you be judged for serving a few with tainted interests? In this age of information technology, your congressional voting records are a click away. Will your name be on the top of some school kid’s report in 25 years as a traitor or a defender of our country?
When you first realized a dream to serve the people of this nation, was this how you envisioned it?
History has been made with the confirmation of Rice. Not the fact that she is the first woman sworn in as Secretary of State, but the fact that she was one of the most opposed candidates ever seated. Her lies about WMD have assisted in the loss of thousands of soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians. Next week you will have the opportunity to confirm or deny an Attorney General that has condoned torture on humans in the 21st century. I certainly hope that you have to fortitude to do what your conscience calls for due to far reaching implications that may haunt you and your family’s reputation for decades to come.
As a young student I was taught that we studied History so that we would not be doomed to make the same mistakes twice. I studied about the Nazi’s and remember news stories as a youth about them being rounded up in their golden years for war crimes they had committed in Germany many years before—thinking that they had escaped justice. If we fail to learn from the mistakes of previous generations, it will only serve to be a history lesson for future generations when they speak of the downfall of our society. Our country is forever stained with the debacle in Iraq that amounts to nothing more than a genocidal holocaust for profit. There were no WMD’s as it has been proven nor have their links to Al Qaeda been established. With that being the premise that took us to Iraq, that should be the premise that leads us out. You cannot promote liberty with the destruction of cities and loss of life. Webster’s defines liberty as “The condition of being free from restriction or control.” Can you honestly in your heart say that we are spreading freedom in Iraq? However, the same dictionary defines oppression as “unlawful, wrongful, or corrupt exercise of authority by a public official acting under color of authority that causes harm”. Which is more fitting to our role in Iraq? Just yesterday Bush urged Iraqi’s to defy terrorists—however, they are already doing that but it is labeled insurgency. WE are the terrorists there.
We are already seeing some of our troops come home unable to cope with what they have seen and have been ordered to do in Iraq with their psyche forever damaged and thus harming those in their path. In Tyler, Texas last week a veteran of the Iraqi war kidnapped and killed a young female college student. How many war heroes today will be our Timothy McVeigh’s tomorrow and how many are you willing to concede to?
With a country as divided as ours is at this point in time, these issues most likely will not be decided in our lifetime—yet when future generations sort this out, will your reputation be intact or will you be classified as a war criminal for your promotion of this agenda?
Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be the ones footing the bills for this administration and the Iraqi Holocaust. I certainly hope they will also be paying reparations for the harm that our country has caused theirs at that time as well. Will your name be on their list of war criminals for enabling this genocide? Will history reflect your votes in Congress to be in the genuine best interests of this country or will it reflect your servitude and blind devotion to this administration? Will your grandchildren and great-grandchildren be proud of the work you have done as an elected official—or will your name be synonymous in the 21st century with Heinrich Himmler, Hans Frank, Hermann Goering, Alfred Jodl or Joachim von Ribentrop’s names were in the 20th century?
For every sin, there is a price to pay. You may not pay it for many years, and in fact you may never pay it and leave your legacy for your family to have to deal with in the coming generations. You owe it to our country and to our service men and women, to the people of Iraq and the world community to stop this senseless war and bring our troops home. It is your sworn duty to serve the people that have elected you into office.
It is your decision how history judges your service to this country. Only you can begin the process of reparations for yourself as well as this country to the people of Iraq
