3. CNN said that the hispanic caucus will not endorse Gonzales
That doesn't mean that they are opposing him.

18. Isn't the withdrawal of support a statement of opposition?

11. Does this endanger the simple majority "guarantee"?
I won't hold my breath or anything like that HOWEVER the Republicans do hold merely a slim majority and if the Hispanic Caucus is out doesn't that introduce the possibility he can be disapproved?

don't get your hopes up. No republicans will vote against him, and several Democrats will vote for him.

13. I guess they judged him on the content of his character.
I certainly will take their non-support under consideration when rightards attack.

16. Great News!
Glad to hear my own opposing this Gonzales guy, maybe it will slow down the Repugs from spinning the race card.
Called Sen Mel Martinez(R FL)and Sen Nelson(D FL) office today and rip them a new one on Rice and the posibility of confirming this guy Gonzales, I do not care that he is hispanic, so is Fidel Castro!

17. Very good news
It will be a healthy thing for congress to debate the merits of a person, whatever his race, without regard to his race, without giving them extra points, or a pass for dismal failure because of their race.

Next person who needs to get a good hearing in congress (via impeachment..okay, I can dream, can't I) is El Presidente himself. He should get no pass for his white skin, even though he is a legacy at Ivy League schools.
