16. Feingold crushed his GOP opponent in a state that Kerry almost lost
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 05:46 PM by Hippo_Tron
Kerry won Wisconsin by about 1/2 of a point. Feingold won re-election to the senate by about 10 points. If you would like I can give you an analysis of why I think that Russ would be a stellar presidential candidate.

And as far as Boxer goes, I won't even argue that because people don't vote for the VP.

25. When's the last time Louisiana sent a Pug to the senate before Vitter?
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 09:55 PM by Hippo_Tron
Reconstruction. That sure didn't help Chris John get elected to the US Senate in Louisiana.

Other than that they've never had a GOP senator before Vitter.

28. Election Trouble
Vitter may have won in Louisiana because of voting machine problems. The voting machines in New Orleans were broken for half the day on election day.

17. agree--way too early
I'd rather see people focusing on 2006, and get our Congress back to a Dem majority! (and by the way, FIX ELECTION FRAUD!)

34. Kerry/Warner
Senator John Kerry and Governor Mark Warner. Kerry can work on making sure we win all the states Kerry picked up in '04, and Warner can rally our troops in the south.

5. Personally, I like that ticket.
Strategically, not so much.

As much as I hate to say it -- I don't think the country is ready for two Jewish Democrats who are both perceived, accurately or not, as far-left liberals.

Heck, I don't think the country is ready for two Jewish people on the ticket.

20.  Gore is Boooring. And he blew it.
He had a moral imperative to run and he didn't. Obama is too new and he already has fucked us over twice with his maiden votes.

7. Don't know yet, but
it seems to me that a Congressional candidate is DOA. Clinton did it to Dole and Bush did it to Kerry. History says it's a bad idea. Might be able to squeak a VP through, but legislative history has too many compromises.

I'd look for a Governor, perhaps from a Southern state, or someone who has been out of government for some time. Maybe a mayor of a really big city.

11. Why bother talking about 2008?
It's premature, to say the least.

What we need to do NOW is to agitate for election reform, to rid ourselves of easily hacked electronic voting forever.

What we need to do NOW is to make sure the DLC is thrown out of power within the party, along with their idiotic platform and those dreadful lobbyist/handlers that have ruined so many political careers.

If we don't accomplish these two things, we could run a George Washington and lose.

13. I could live with that ticket, erpowers, but I think dwickham --
-- is right about the 20% blow-out.

I romanticize a Bill Moyers/Alexis Herman ticket, but it might not be a real-world opportunity.

Strategically, we need a better chance against THE CAT BUTCHER or McCain. Sometimes I play around with tickets like:

Clark - Richardson
Edwards - Durbin
Dean - Dorgan
Gore - Richardson
Kerry - Rangel
Edwards - Cohen
Bayh - Doggett

22. Another question: Who do you want in the primaries in '08?
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 06:01 PM by AP
I think the debate will be enhanced by another Kucinich run. I think I'd like to see Harold Ford run too. I'd love to see Ruth Ann Minner and Debbie Stabenow take a stab at it.

..."I" like Kucinich but I think the "public" would find a Schweitzer/Whitman ticket very interesting.

And yes, I realize Brian's only been Governor for 3 weeks and doesn't have a track record yet. It's fun to speculate. :)
