Randi kicked a neocon's ass today!! |
|
Anyone hear Randi dress down a neocon deep in denial about all the torture that's going on? He kept asking for proof and she kept citing all sorts of reports. But it was as though he didn't hear her, as often happens with those in denial: if they can't support something, they'll refuse that it exists. This guy obviously couldn't defend torture so he had to maintain it was nonexistent. I guess that's how the neocons with a flicker of conscience deal with unsavory subjects such as man's inhumanity to man...
Lots of them, I bet, approve of it. It's the Gestapo mentality

He came on saying that Sy Hersch wasn't a credible source, so she said what source is credible, and he refused to give a straight answer. Eventually she got him to say that government agency reports are credible, then he wouldn't listen when she listed some.

It was hilarious. He kept saying 'no, it's not' or 'no, they didn't' to everything Randi said.
That guy couldn't argue his way out of a paper bag. LOL

5. I heard it. He kept shouting about "what about them chopping people's |
|
heads off". I say "what about it?" Our atrocities have been far, far worse. We have launched an unprovoked invasion of a disarmed nation which resulted in our war crimes of incinerating people with napalm and white phosphorous, dropping megaton bombs, cluster bombs, planting mines....we are faaaaaaar more barbaric than Iraqis lopping off a few heads.
WE are the barbarians and they deserve to lop off heads after what we have done to them.
Sorry, but quit yer whining about chopped off heads. It is NOTHING compared to our atrocities.

I counted at least four. They were really coming out of the woodwork today, all shouting talking points nonstop and refusing to answer a direct question. At least one did actually try to defend the torture.
Randi smacked them all down in fine style. But it's a bit unnerving. Is something happening out there? The contradictions getting too close to home for the neocons?

(though she should have hung up on the guy-- he obviously was just goading her. But he lost, didn't he?)
I know it's hard to believe sometimes but we can't lose if we have the truth on our side-- utilmately we will prevail. Those righties are immersed in denial, their brain synapses are malfunctioning, and they're morally bankrupt. Some are clueless, like SHEEP.
They're not all bad but the fact that they don't have enough sense to see how dangerous Dub & his thugs are-- if they can't see how the country is systematically being destroyed, well I have no respect for them. Through their ignorance, they've become accomplices.
I wish we could shunt them off to an island where they can do their thing without harming those of us who want to steer way clear of the madness.
Maybe someday??

all that torture description and imagery. some people tend to get off on that.
you sound like you've been reading up on torture in general, or watching some old time movies.
maybe read up on the specifics of abu ghraib instead of just looking at the two or three pictures that got all the tv airplay. you might be amazed to see how close several of your descriptions came to depicting what has recently been documented regarding what went on in that prison in iraq.
i also recommend you read through the bybee memorandum for alberto gonzales which basically says as long as you don't kill them, or cause organ failure then anything goes. (hint of sarcasm in my voice here: their mothers must be so proud of them. no hint of sarcasm: i bet their wives have learned to sleep with one eye open)
by the way, i don't recall "naked pyramids" at Delta house

9. No torture? There are pics of the torture. The FBI documented the torture. |
|
Does the Neo-con guy think the FBI lied? Maybe the Red Cross has some sinister political agenda and made up torture stories but we know the DOJ didnt make any of it up.
That guy is living in the great State of Denial, somewhere down south between Mississippi and Texas.

He asked lots of questions but when she answered them, he ignored her and went off in another direction. Gads, trying to have a dialog with some of these people is like nailing custard to a wall!!

18. I've had conversations with conservatives where they do that |
|
They raise a Rushbo talking point, thinking it's some sort of irrefutable, ironclad declaration of truth. When I cite examples and frame a response that totally dismantles what they're saying, suddenly, they want to change the subject.
It's weird.

12. i can't listen to Randi Rhodes anymore, Mike Malloy is the man. |
|
Even when is so right, too often it's all about her, (what "she knows" ) especially in interviews. Al Franken has the same problem, I can't listen to his show anymore either. The interviews are always interrupted, so that the full breadth of knowledge that has to be truncated and condensed to pack in a few precious minutes before commercial interruptions is bad enough, but to have the host constantly interrupt before the guest can even manage to fully make a single point is insane to listen to, and it certainly doesn't serve the audience. And i don't find that entertaining. So I go back to DemocracyNow and other alternative media to get my fix on information and news and information, and fuller interviews.
As far as opining goes, Mike Malloy satsifies my need to have expressed thoughts articulated so fully, so explictly, and he is entertaining, (last night's episode with David from Atlanta was hilarious, I laughed so hard tears were rolling, Malloy was in great form).
Though Randi can be very funny, her style is often annoying to me. But I do appreciate that she is there and she's got a hell of a lot more going than Al Franken.
Al's show would be great if Al retired and let Kathy co-host with Joe Conoson on a regular basis. Franken is just bad at doing radio. He's he wastes too much air time, stuttering or muttering, sounding unprepared or elsewise occupied. I can't stand his ethnic impersonations, and the oy oy show is the absolute worst thing i have ever heard. i have to actually run and turn my radio to another station or off in that segment. And who gives a damn about listening to that Ditto head friend of his? I don't want to know what Rush Limbaugh said! I don't need to have someone wasting precious air time regurgitating that crap.
sorry i had to rant..

15. Sirius Radio kept trying to "aquire signal" during that segment, but |
|
what I did hear was wonderful. She answered all his questions about sources, and tortures, and he sputtered things like "trying to kill 'Mericans."
I predict that Freepers like this will only make Randi's show more popular.

Her substance is usually good. It's more her style that grates me. But today both her substance and style was spot on.
