Ashcroft: Bush "endorsed overwhelmingly by the American people"
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,145646,00.html

WASHINGTON — Retiring Attorney General John Ashcroft (search), the one-time senator from Missouri, said he thinks some of his former colleagues are on the wrong track when it comes to creating roadblocks to the confirmation of his would-be successor, former White House counsel Alberto Gonzales (search).

"I've sat on both sides of that table in the Senate. I went through a difficult confirmation proceeding of my own," Ashcroft told FOX News on Thursday in one of his last media interviews before retiring from the post.

"But I'm not going to advise the Senate Democrats on politics. I'm delighted that the president's understanding of politics has been endorsed overwhelmingly by the American people and whether they want to learn from that or not, is up to them," he said.

Ashcroft also praised the president's steady hand in the long-term fight against terrorism. "I met with the president this morning. I intend to meet with him tomorrow morning. I met with him yesterday morning. Every morning he assesses what it is we can do to win another day in the War on Terror," he said. "It's the kind of effort that you can only win one day at a time."

4. As Christie Whitman said on TDS last night, it was the smallest margin
of victory for any incumbent President in recent history - smaller than Truman beating Dewey.

13. smaller margin than Truman beating Dewey--and were we at war during the
election and was the 'enemy's' statement regarding the election blasted across the major media outlets on the weekend before the election?

Smaller than Truman...and smaller still.

7. Since when is a 50-48 percent victory in the popular vote
and a 286-252 electoral vote considered "overwhelming"??? and yet the media lets these jackoffs get away with it. I can remember in '96 when Clinton won a much bigger electoral victory and beat Dole by 8-points in the popular vote that the media still harped because he didn't crack 50%.

10. Ashcroft was a mistake, Democrats are trying not to REPEAT their
mistakes like the current administration is becoming notorious for. America barely survived the misguided aspirations of AssCroft I hardly think we could survive the torture years of Gonzales.

24. Uh no
49% still hate your stupid asses. 48% for Kerry and 1% who couldn't stand to vote for those assholes. So no, McCokespoon has no overwhelming endorsement. Go away, Ashcroft to your S&M and your crappy songwriting.
