Morning Sedition -
A few months ago the boston metro region got an AAR outlet WXKS, about time although the two am stations are underpowered and the reception is horrible. So I've been listening on the commute in and out. The afternoon is pretty good between ed shultz and randi rhodes. (WXKS runs shultz from 3-6 and rhodes from 6-9.) However I have a real problem with morning sedition.

For example, yesterday they spent the entire segment I listened to discussing the horrors of name calling. This shit is stereotypical 'liberal' plitically correct mushspeak. They interrupted the blather with their serialized really bad comedy skits.

At first I thought I was just unlucky and was catching some dead time, but I've convinced myself that rather than being a politically oriented news and talk show with a progressive attitude, morning sedition has nothing to say at all. It seems that they aspire to be sort of howard sternish but without lesbians, porno-girls, or the sort of disarmingly entertaining sophmoric good nature that stern brings to radio. They are up against npr, imus, and stern, and I can't find a good reason to listen to them, and given the bad reception, a whole lot of reasons to change the dial.

How about a little less (bad) entertainment, a little more focus on news and analysis, interviews with real people rather than spoofed up bullshit? How about an actual alternative to morning edition?

So Morning sedition isn't you cup o tea.

How about NPR. They are serious all the time perhaps you will like that more.

Perhaps you missed the part when they did the story on Female Genital Mutilation? Sad but true and News worthy. I love it when people tune in for 5 mins and damn the whole ship.

3. I agree, I stream it every morning.
They have a lot of great guests and are usually on the ball on the latest crap coming out of WH. Plus, they do some pretty funny skits.

That dude that calls in periodically to act the part of a Bush-lovin, Right-Wing Whacko, cracks me up every single time.

I really enjoy it.

6. which makes m-s
a combination of a badly done imus show and a badly done npr show all with a progressive slant. 20 minutes about tea-cozy cottage industries in somalia interspersed with really lame comedy. ugh.

How about 20 minutes of real news with a progressive slant instead?

4. NPR has become an outlet for statist propaganda
Their fear of losing gummint funding has turned them into crap. Iwas looking for an alternative and I haven't found it in morning sedition.

Yes I heard the show re female circumcision. I am all for talking about this subject, but that was essentially all they talked about, other than the maronic comedy skits. Even on NPR that would not have been more than a 5-10 minute segment.

I don't see how their approach is going to work on against the competition.

2. I think they did that...
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 11:06 AM by Oreo
because it's "National No Name Calling Week"

I didn't make it up.... http://www.nonamecallingweek.org/cgi-bin/iowa/home.html

No Name-Calling Week is an annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities.

13. "no name calling week"
is liberal politically correct mommy state nonsense at its worst.

By the way endless repetition of stuff like
"rotflmao!!BUHWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!rotflmao!!"
is rather irritating. Disagree all you want, engage in a discussion, but cut the crap, ok?

Five minute on the idiotic 'no name calling week' would have been more than enough. An entire show is both stupid and boring.

You think that sort of programming reaches anyone outside of the choir?

15. OK so do you wanna be a liberal or not? The show isn't liberal enough
cuz it doesn't have enough liberal news.

They do a liberal thing and then you hate it.

They do that liberal thing as a joke and you hate it.

BuhwAAAAAAAAAAAAA!.

17. that isn't what I said

I said five minutes on 'national name calling week' would have been more than enough.

On the senate floor that same week there was a whole lot of name calling going on that needed to be talked about A whole lot of analysis outside of the crap from the MSM that needed to be done. Instead I heard stupid blather about the horrors of schoolyard insults and comedy skits about *'s palmpilot calendar.

I have no idea what you meant by They do that liberal thing as a joke and you hate it.

The show is not a news show. It is not seditious. It appears to be an imus-clone with a liberal slant, and, as in the example at hand, national name calling week, promotes the absolute worst side of mommy-state liberalism.

16. When they do serious interviews, they're fine.
Also incredibly funny is the "Lawton" character they have on each day. But the rest of it (the palm pilot, the fax, etc.) is very boring and idiotic at times.

"Lawton" just kills me. I laugh until I cry when they do that one.

18. I agree
about the serious interviews. The show is not ALL bad. The lawton character does nothing for me. What they don't do, as far as I can tell, is to present an alternative to the days MSM rightwing talking points. Too bad. That is exactly, in my opinion, what a morning show ought to do.
