RNC SEEKS DONATIONS TO GET BUSH MESSAGE PAST `LIBERAL MEDIA FILTER'
RNC SEEKS DONATIONS TO GET BUSH MESSAGE PAST `LIBERAL MEDIA FILTER'

The Republican Party is following up record fund raising for President Bush's re-election effort by asking donors to finance its efforts to get Bush's message "past the liberal media filter" to the public. Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman sent a fund-raising e-mail Wednesday saying: "The president has great goals for our country. . . But we need your help to get the president's message past the liberal media filter and directly to the American people."

Will the money be used on buying news of the Armstrong Williams and Karen Ryan variety? Wait and see.

2. This is so dangerous...
Getting "past the liberal media filter" means discounting everything the press or media says that disagrees with their radical agenda. It has nothing to do with the facts or the truth, but simple propaganda. The press must be willing to call them on this challenge.

5. I don't think they can come in under the radar, though. That's what's
different. They'll have to tie in those informercials with the RNC. People will finally see the hidden hand.

9. #1 Problem: The Media, news media.
No, people will not think. They will see what they are told to see, and they will dismiss any negative reports about ReoubliCONs.

4. You can almost see the damage control in action:
Two things happened to the RNC in the last two days:

(1) Bush closed out their public funded propaganda machine by stopping government agencies from hiring private pundits.

(2) The Bush Administration did not pursue an appeal on loosening up the FCC media ownership regulations.

What I don't understand is, they already have FoxNews and other right-wing channels. And if it's a question of buying up air time on other channels, why doesn't Murdoch just do it? Why doesn't he just buy commercial time on CNN, ABC, NBC & CBS? Why are they going out with hat in hand for something like this? Is it because the one thing they lost was their anonymity? And now it looks all politically driven?

12. Taxpayer funding of propaganda is still going on...
"(1) Bush closed out their public funded propaganda machine by stopping government agencies from hiring private pundits."

The issue isn't the hiring of private pundits. The issue is using taxpayer dollars for propaganda and lobbying. Everyone has been sent and will receive their annual notice from SS detailing their benefits. In that mailing are two pages of political propaganda touting Bush's privatization of SS plan stating that unless Congress acts there won't be funds to pay them their SS. In addition all SS employees are expected to give people the same message, there are SS employees giving presentations to groups giving this same message.

This is clearly against the law, but noone seems to really enforce it and it seems that the only thing that happens is a slap on the wrist of the GAO. Lautenburg is introducing legislation that will make the top agency offical personally libel among other things. Unfortunately I don't have much hope that our Republican controlled Congress will allow it to pass.

This is more than frightening and we should all be yelling at the top of our lungs in LTTE and by any other means.

Having a government agency insist that Federal employees spread a political agenda (propoganda and lobbying) and using the agency's resources to spread fear into every working American results in a loss of integrity and trust in our government as a whole.

Why this isn't a top news story is beyond me. So we need to help and get the message out that the administration is lying to the American people and using propaganda to sell a program that will destroy Social Security.

6. With the GOP, it's the "liberal media"
with the churches, it's "the coming of the end of the world".

Both ways to part the fools from their $$s.

8. When are we going to realize that these people are NOT GOING...
TO STOP until liberalism and the Democratic party are a distant memory.

We have got to play the game and seek to destroy them. Kill or be killed.

11. No Liberal Filter
There is no liberal filter. This is just an attempt to get money for Republicans. The Democrats should the Republicans out on this issue. Democrats need to point out that Bush has never had a problem getting his message across. Democrats should fight.
