I thought I heard an echo when she gave her acceptance speech after her swearing in today. It's clear to me that Karen Hughes has been dumped as a major speech writer for Bush--even from her home in TX. If there is any question about the smack down given Condi at her confirmation hearing and floor debate had an iota of impact you now know it did NOT. The most dangerous kind of person in the world--and we have at least a dozen of them running our governmnt--are people who never learn from mistakes, can't take constructive criticism, and refuse to admit when they are wrong or have made a mistake. Condi's acceptance sppeech taken together with what was revealed about this administrations behavior toward career Fed employees in the Social Security Administration we are in deep doo doo if we don't get these people out of power.

Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., one of those critics, argued that Rice's confirmation is vital because "she has the president's confidence," and the president needs someone who will be "brutally frank" with him after the Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.

I think that this is why she's there. She's running the shit.

"We are at war ... (and) in times like these it is important that the world not only knows that this secretary of state has the ear of the president, but that she has – if you will allow me to put it this way – America's heart," Lieberman said.

Eeeeeeewwwwwwwwww, no he didn't say that!!!.

7. That's why the appointees these days are all * loyalists....
He is surrounding himself with yes men and women because he wants no opposition from within the administration. Or books like the excellent one telling Paul O'Neill's story.
