Tom Hayden's "Appeal to Global Conscience"
Tom Hayden's "Appeal to Global Conscience"
29 January 2005

Tom Hayden recently posted an An Appeal to Global Conscience, on his Blog, saying “together we can undermine the pillars of war and occupation, make it impossible for the American government to continue its course, and begin to plant the foundations of peace.”

1. we are the government
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 05:22 AM by progressiveright
when you say 'make it impossible for the American government to continue its course' you create a perfect flamebate for freepers to call you anti-american. The point is to take over the government, which represents the will of the majority, and set the course that is best for our counrty AND the rest of the world. You gotta be careful about ur rhetoric if you care about democrats winning elections, that's what all this 'democratic party being taken over by crazy left' is coming from, really.

It's just that there are a lot of unaswered questions floating in that single loaded statement. If you think that democratically elected american government is doing something that is terribly wrong will you support groups that hurt our country in the name of justice? might seem like a stupid question to a thinking person, but there is a reason why liberal is a dirty world now, it's all about word games in politics.

3. I disagree.
You are spewing RW talking points by even saying the "democratic party being taken over by crazy left".

Liberal is a dirty word because the Right made it one, pure and simple.

4. yes, exactly right
i am spewing RW talking points. they won by spewing them. regular people who are not politically active don't look at it that way, they take these talking points and arguments at face value. that's how republicans won. may be we should start thinking about that and adress them. get it?

6. So being against the war is wrong?
Is that what you are saying, or are you saying that that that is what "they" think?

We know that is what they think, but I think anti-war activists have a good reason to oppose this war, regardless of what they right wing spews about it.
