Poll question: Yet another '08 poll, sans Hillary
Somehow I don't think she'll run, nor will Kerry.I believe Mark Warner will go for the Senate in '06. So let's try these:

a fresh face or two, preferrably a realistic one. Hey, Bayh is fresh isn't he?

9. Why isn't Dick Durbin's name being thrown around?
He's a great populist Senator, liberal for the liberal people, and from the Midwest to appeal to the Midwest voter.

He's a Senator, which means his voting record is up there for scrutiny... but as far as I know, it's pretty clean.

The only question in my mind is... will Dick be willing to take a shot at the Presidency?

18. He's a great Senator now that he's got some experience.
He's a major target for the NRA. I don't believe he'd go far outside of a blue state. I expect since he has a leadership role he'll be challenged strongly in the next Senate election.

5. Doubt it...
Seems to me that Kerry would have a much more difficult time than Gore in fixing his campaign weaknesses, especially after only four years.

7. I don't know for certain, of course
but he is acting like it. We'll have to see what he says on his MTP interview tomorrow.

11. Kerry, Clark, Hillary, and yes, sneaky Dean all appear to be
gearing up for (re)runs, thus the dueling over DNC chair. Others may be sending out feelers. I'd say Kerry's chances are the best by far. He's still got his '04 operation intact and he still has a job.

12. If Dean becomes DNC chair
he can't run in '08.

13. Oh please. Haven't you read "Il Principe"? Reasons can always be found
to break a politician's promises, and they will.

15. Haven't you heard the latest 2008 VP candidate hat trick?
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 09:52 PM by ProgressiveWarrior
Dean as DNC Chair gets his buddy Gore to be the nominee, then Gore returns the favor by making Dean his VP by mid-2008 after three headline grabbing, name-recognition making years by Dean as DNC Chair.

That's the dream of many here.

And I thought having Terry McAuliffe schilling for Kerry was bad in 2004.

14. I will rephrase that.
I have a theory that by running again in 08, perhaps Kerry intends to once again shut down any popular progressive candidate from having a real shot at becoming the Democratic nominee. And perhaps that is Kerry's only goal/function, not really to become President.

Or, maybe I'm just being paranoid.

PS: This is simply a theory. Please don't censor me for having an honest opinion/theory like you did in post #6.

17. Sorry but I gotta remind everyone....
No Democrat, or any other non-repuke boot licker, will ever win the presidency in this country until we get rid of those infernal machines.

Period.
