3. 192, I think...
...or was it 291? Those Iraqi candidate names all sound the same to me.

4. W to press: hype this up!

The elections -- I am pleased that the elections are going forward. I recognize that there are a group of terrorists trying to stop the election process. I have been amazed by the spirit of the Iraqi people. There's a big front-page story; I'm sure you read that. Please don't tell me you haven't.

For someone not reading papers he surely decides what's the front page story!

7. They voted for a national assembly and legislatures
The results will come in by "stages" or something, over six days. There are 275 people in their national assembly, and 18 provincial legislatures. They write a constitution, then the national assembly appoints the government and the prime minister. (I think I heard there was some intermediate process where three people are picked by the national assembly to pick the PM, but I'm not sure.)
