$9 BILLION unaccounted for?
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 03:56 PM by MsAnthropy
And Bremer gets a medal? Whose pockets did all that money fall into? Is this war a free-for-all for the greedy and corrupt? Will no one in our government protest this? Is no one in this administration accountable for anything? Have they totally fucked up EVERYTHING they've laid their hands on?

(Some of the many questions I already know the answers to. SHEEEE-IT.)

1. Did you know that's enough to build two aircraft carriers?
I think the last one they built came in at about $4 billion dollars.

It's also about a quarter of the entire budget of the Veteran's Administration.

And they say they just 'lost it'....right...

3. God, it makes me sick
to think that our soldiers are dying without proper equipment and supplies. But the moneymen are making a good return!

2. They are asking to $80billion more and have not accounted for
most of what was allocated already! I wish at least one of the Senators had the ^$&%'s to stand up and say "NO more money until we know how you spent what we already gave you!!!"

5. I'm amazed they didn't just attribute it to "Halliburton overcharges"
and the whole subject would be dropped by the media and the administration--that's probably where it went anyway. Halliburton hasn't had to give back the money they were caught stealing before. This is a scamming of America on the largest scale to date.

7. whoop it up on someone else's dime
War profiteers have always lived the high life; why aren't they entitled to a few billion for a slush fund?

There's so much money missing since Bush took over we can only pray that it isn't concentrated in one place; because THAT is what would be really scary.

8. It's stories like this that cut the honest people from the crooks.
You read it and realize how easy it would be to get rich off the government with some schlocky scheme, then Mr. Conscience comes and sits on your shoulder and you know you couldn't do it. You might get a medal, you might get a great job, you might be set for life, but you just couldn't do it. Guess I'd better give up the idea of running for office.

9. Has anybody thought to look in Cheney's parka?
Seriously though, what about the UN "oil for food" fraud and the pentagon missing trillions? The corruption of modern politics is unbearable

11. Someone with a spine ought to
ask for accountability with all this money.

Hey George, can we search you shed at the ranch?

12. Accountability? That's soooo September 10th
There is no accountability in a 'post 9-11 world'.

Why do you hate America?

(pssst: sarcasm notice for the humor-impaired).

13. dirty tricks
Has anyone thought that this money could have funded all those little glitches that went wrong in the election, all those officials that wouldn't let people vote, look at the pundits, haven't we had a bribe as you go policy?

14. Uh-oh. I may be in hot water on this one.
Look, I found all these loose bills in a pile of cadboard boxes in back of our local JoAnne Fabrics store...

... and hell, call me an impulsive capitalist if you want, but I decided to SPEND it.

Got some new duds, went to Vegas, had the back porch re-done, bought all my friends cars...

Uh-oh.
