Mike Ruppert's (rather positive) take on Howard Dean
http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/102003_beyond_bush_2.html

Just a few short months ago this Yale graduate, medical doctor and former Vermont Governor was the talk of the town. He won a "Hollywood" Internet primary sponsored by MoveOn, ahead of Dennis Kucinich, and jumped to the head of the pack by out-fundraising his opponents. All this without really having taken a hard stand on anything except his opposition to the Iraqi invasion and Bush tax cuts. While we can find no record that Dean is a member of the CFR, Trilateral Commission or the Bilderberg Group (a good thing), we can also find no record that Dean has really bitten on the issues that matter. His touted anti-war stance places him squarely in the position of saying, "I would never have done it" but he has not put himself in the hard position of saying, "Here's how I will undo it." Instead, this supporter of NAFTA, GATT and globalization, committed to protecting our troops on the ground and American interests abroad, has very likely toed the line. But there are signs that he may be someone the elites regard as not sufficiently controllable.

Dean made the sparks fly by stating that the US should act as an "honest broker" in the Mideast peace process. His late September statement evoked a wide response from Democrats like Joe Lieberman and John Kerry that forced him to "clarify" a rational position that harkened back to US policies that were less pro-Israel, and which resulted in far less violence in the region.

Still, Dean won't take a stand on civil liberties except to say that there are some "glitches" in post-9/11 laws. He has no position on Peak Oil and has said nothing about 9/11. (WCTV: This has since changed, Dean publically "floated" some speculations about Bush being warned ahead of time.)

He poses a threat to the establishment because he is an outsider who hasn't been sufficiently harnessed to know what directions he would or would not take if elected. But what's most important about Howard Dean is that he is already fading some in the polls, thanks to Wesley Clark, and even candidates like Dennis Kucinich. Dean appears to be the target of a "spike" effort from many different directions. Still he has not taken on the issues of real importance to FTW readers and the world as a whole. Time will tell if his fundraising skill and internet-driven organization will last beyond next spring.

2. Is John Kerry a "kook" conspiracy theorist?
Because Ruppert isn't talking about anything that Kerry (supposedly) did? How about Gary Webb? Or the CIA internal investigation, released to the public and excerpted in the Washington Post, kooky?

4. Sorry but this guy seems to make money off of unsubstantiated paranoia
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 01:05 PM by DaisyUCSB
and he clearly isn't an unbiased open-minded type person

He spreads the mindset that people who have any positions that aren't on the far left mark them as suspicious

5. obviously that's just your opinion

can you define "unsubstantiated paranoia"?
and provide a specific example of how it is used by Ruppert.

6. you are clearly unfamiliar with Mike Ruppert's work
I'd suggest reading a bit, thinking it over, looking up the sources, then coming back with an educated opinion?

8. How is this frightening fact "unsubstantiated"?

<http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/102003_beyond_bush_2.html>

"A key sign that Kerry might be the anointed one came for me when George W. Bush's chief counter-terrorism adviser Rand Beers resigned in a dramatic moment last June, in protest over Bush's handling of the war on terror and his headlong rush into Iraq. Beers immediately became Kerry's senior foreign policy advisor, as Kerry continued to state that he would improve on and expand the war on terror. Beers' protestations concealed what I considered to be a much more sinister objective, the placement of a key, hands-on operative to manage a smooth transition of power and a continuation of secret policy. Beers, who had served in national security roles for three Republican administrations, was the man who had replaced Lt. Col. Oliver North after North was fired in 1987 during the Iran-Contra scandal."

10. What Is The Fact, Sir?
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 02:44 PM by The Magistrate
The only point to this swill is this assertion: "Beers' protestations concealed what I considered to be a much more sinister objective, the placement of a key, hands-on operative to manage a smooth transition of power and a continuation of secret policy." No reason whatever to believe this entertaining speculation is offered; one must already share both the author's assumptions, namely, that there is a secret motive, and that he is gifted to see what lesser mortals cannot without his occult assistance, to lend it any credence whatever.

The fellow resigned in protest of a policy he disagreed with, and took up salary from a political figure who shares his disagreement. This is a good thing. For a person with expertise in national security matters, for a substantial period during the Cold War, it was work for Republican administrations or find another trade.

Ruppert is a fair comedian, though not quite so good at the trade as Mr. Ickes....

11. The point to this swill is
Kerry's foreign policy wonk is a long time Republican operative.

I should/could have put in an elipsis and excised the specutlative sentence but the fact remains of Beers' infamous resume.

12. Meaningless, Sir

It is only the speculative sentence give the thing the slightest zing. There is nothing in the least infamous about the resume supplied in the paragraph you quoted, and one thing creditable, that the man resigned rather than execute a policy he disagreed with. Ruppert is nothing but puff-artist, spooked by shadows of his own design and desire; he is not a serious recearcher, or analyst, or commentator. He is a comedian in a very specialized field, and that is all.

14. Beers
so the CIA stopped supporting the Contras after Beers took over from Oliver North? If Beers has been trusted by three Republican administrations, including the most corrupt and treasonous one ever (until Bush I and II), why should I trust him or the man who hires him?

16. And This Mr. Webb, Sir?
He has made public evidence proving this Beers fellow is currently a Republican operative, and the conduit through which Sen. Kerry receives his marching orders from his Hidden Masters? Not speculation, mind, not juxtapositions or past employers, but real evidence, that judge would allow before a jury, of current actions?

You know my view of this sort of thing, Sir; it is no secret.

This kind of thing is an amusement, and nothing more. It is not how the world works.

20. I have no idea what you are talking about
"Hidden Masters"? What sort of conspiracy theories are you suggesting here?

The point was made that Kerry's history and actions, with all of his connections to lawbreakers in the Bush I administration, his "investigation" of BCCI and other related crimes that was successful in obscuring the guilty, and his complete silence on these major issues, along with him hiring a long time Republican operative to help on his campaign, raises questions about what side he's actully on.

"This kind of thing is an amusement, and nothing more."

What sort of thing is that? In any case, I can understand why Kerry fans want to obscure his role.

Now we know just where you take your stand.

Yes, President Clinton is a Democrat, and a great one. What little fringe of the field's boundaries do you think constitutes the Democratic Party? Doubtless one from which no office-holder springs....
