Where are our bold Senators right now?
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 02:18 PM by denverbill
Possibly the worst spending bill in Congressional history was temporarily delayed by our bold, visionary Democratic leaders in the Senate yesterday. Unfortunately, the bill is going to be passed soon, even though it was defeated 48-45 yesterday.

How can this be? I thought that we had at least 3 bold Democratic leaders running for President this year, who, if they had any conjones at all, would be standing right now on the steps of Congress denouncing this piece of shit. But no. Where are they? They are standing in New Hampshire denouncing Howard Dean.

What a shitty display of leadership. The exact same display we've gotten for the last 3 years on every major issue of importance, from the IWR, to the Patriot Act, to the Pledge, to increasing minimum wage, to telecom deregulation. You name it, the Republicans have gotten their way and kept the cowardly Democrats quiet.

1. If their votes are the difference, I'll agree with you
But when people say "Kerry didn't care enough to vote on Medicare", they just reveal their own ignorance of the process.

3. Bull. If they are truly leaders, they will GET the votes.
How? By standing on the steps of Congress denouncing the bill. By hitting the news shows and urging people to call and write the Congressmen.

But, no, they'd rather lead by standing on the sidelines, shrugging their shoulders, and saying 'What can we do?'.

5. Yep, they only speak when it's convenient
they only cast safe votes.

The board of Directors decides who the CEO is.

6. But by that rationale, Dean could do the same
If their vote isn't what counts, but their leadership is, shouldn't all the candidates have to pass your test?

7. Yeah, that would make a nice challenge.
Maybe if Dean actually did it, Kerry would do his job for a change.

2. So I guess you want them to go to Washington D.C.
How convienent for Dean. Well it is the only way he could possilby come in Second.

I am sure if their votes are needed they will be there, I have no doubt.

4. No, I'm thinking Dean should go to Washington and do their jobs.
If they want to abdicate their responsibilities, just as they've done countless times over the last three years, fine. Let's get somebody in there that actually knows how to lead.

8. it's clear the establishment does not want a guy who stands for
the people and how we think.

Corporations are running things....like the media.

10. Republicans know this bill can't stand the light of day.
Unfortunately, nobody seems to care that much. Oh well, it's just 8 million people losing their overtime pay.

12. "Bold" as a bowl of mashed turnips.
As proven by their "heroic" votes for the IWR and Patriot Act.
