I'm really frighten by all of the nobody but dean, or kerry, or whom |
|
ever. this is the same stuff that got bush. I love dean and I really think that he is the only one with any fire that can beat bush. but I support and vote for whom ever the nom is, (holding nose) including lieberman.
but you guy's that are stuck on your candidate are really starting to freak me out. I'm hoping this is just a part of the grieving stage and that it will soon pass. god knows I really could not take another 4 years of the chimp*, man I would really hate to start smoking pot again, geez my kids already think I'm strange.

If someone can find one I'd be surprised. Every Kerry supporter I know is ABB.

I've been pretty disillusioned about Dean, but the Supreme Court trumps my dislike of him. And I'm still going with my DK primary vote, by the way.

3. Cognitive dissonance maybe. |
|
Some have contributed thousands of dollars and many hours to campaigns. Rather than admit efforts were unsuccessful, some would rather believe a conspiracy abounds, or that the people that beat them aren't really Democrats for whatever frivolous reasons.
Additionally, I suspect some are merely saying NB'x' to get a rise out of supporters they despise.

and that was the night of the Iowa caucus, so he was probably in a bad mood.
We need to de-select Bush. To do that we need to win by a landslide.
I hope that we will have Dean and his supporters working toward that end, whether or not Dean is the nominee.
Anybody but Bush!

I mean if the only people who vote ABB are those that haven't really supported a nominee up to this point, the Democratic party collectively is screwed.

by not using your vote, you're actually enabling the person who actually mislead the country and got our troops into the mess they are in.

15. Please think of hundreds more soldiers who will die... |
|
...in the next four years as Bush continues to refuse to work with our allies for support and as he turns his military aspirations towards others in his "axis of evil".
...Think of the thousands that will die from the next big terrorist attack perpetrated by those children around the world who see the face of Bush and will grow up believing that America is an arrogant imperialist enemy.
Please think of the future.

23. So your theory is that if SCOTUS had allowed the election results |
|
and Gore was president now, it would have been Kerry and Edwards who would have led the nation to invade Iraq?
Really?
Think about it a second. Really?
Or is this just an excuse to smack around candidates you don't like?

16. Don't Be Afraid - They Really Can't Harm You |
|
What's going on here is a two-fold attempt; the first priority is to pry you away from the thought of voting for Dean in the primaries. Once they've accomplised that (and some apparently think it is accomplished) they'll fight amongst each other to get you to vote for *their* guy.

17. You should be more frightened of Kerry leading Dems to defeat in the Fall |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 06:04 PM by IndianaGreen
If the Democrats nominate a prowar and PATRIOT apologist candidate like John Kerry, it will permanently harm and split the party.
The split will come after the November Elections, when despite our voting for Kerry while holding our noses, he brings another DLC defeat to fruition. The recriminations and finger-pointing will be long lasting and bitter!
Ironically, the only pro-IWR candidate that may actually win in November is Edwards. The reason: Edwards is not a Washington insider, and he is not a gun-grabbing Massachusetts Skull & Bones elitist.

I really believe that once we settle on a nominee, the Party will close ranks behind him.
Right now we are in the heat of battle. Emotions run high. That is natural, and not at all a bad thing. People should be passionate about their candidate.
We just have to remember not to burn the bridges between us in the hard weeks ahead.

in this highly partisan environment, any sign of weakness is viciously attacked. By putting up a wall and saying I'm NB*, you are essentially saying "don't bother trying to convert me." I think of it a lot like my blasting Death Metal when the religious door knockers come through my neighborhood. I don't necessarily think Death Metal is great, but it keeps the timid away, and those who still bravely knock on my door are probably going to be really interesting to talk to.
At no point in time do I take NB* seriously. For me it is a time and place thing. Right now, on this board, a person is NB*, but in November ... that is a different ballgame.

It's just their way of having a tantrum "If I can't win I'm taking my ball and going home! WAAAAAAAA". Some people will insist on being pure no matter how many people will die as a result if * gets re-elected. They are moral midgets who think they are giants.

to say that you will only support so-and-so when so much is at stake in 2004. I agree with you, I am frightened by the myopia of some who support so-and-so and only so-and-so.
My only hope is that this is just primary rhetoric. Perhaps they will come around when it is clear that the future of our country and everything we hold dear is threatened by another four years of Bush.
