Poll question: Have you ever been threatened for not supporting *?
I'm talking about more than just calling you unpatriotic or other name calling. I mean have you ever been threatened by someone with your job or physical safety in any way for not supporting Baby Bush?

36. I feel my sister's family have always attacked my political views
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 08:51 PM by pbartch
As I type this I feel a VERY SAD feeling come over me. They are Republicans. I am a Dem.

All the kids (in their 20's now) have been brainwashed all their lives to accept and embrace ALL conservative values. Bush is REVERED.

I never talk politics. My views have been attacked for years. I remember about 5 years ago when my sis was in the hospital for an operation. Brotherinlaw and I were in the waiting room.....a news report came on featuring Al Gore. He made some snide comment about Gore. I just mentioned that he was right and I agreed with him

B-I-L went ballistic and started YELLING at me. I almost started crying because of his attack.

Ever since then.....I have kept my mouth shut. I LOVE MY FAMILY.

I'm lucky. Someone may have tried to run me off the road one day because of my bumpersticker, but he might have just been a drunk redneck. Not sure.

for not supporting the Iraq War in the run-up. I was previously friendly with this guy.

I'll never forget that one, you can bet on that. You don't forget when someone questions your patriotism.

and I very quietly told them that I couldn't support the uncrhistian agenda of the GOP.

Nobody's tried since.

I love it when people ask me about my bumper stickers or my buttons...I haven't run into one sheeple yet who could argue worth a damn. The power of truth is just too overwhemling....sadly, most of them don't even know what the president has actually said and done in their name...like this...

8. I've been told I was "dangerous" by a military guy.
I think Feinstein may have threatened me...she said "I'll remember you" after I was giving her shit about refusing to say a bad word about the 2000 theft and for her warmongering. Don't know what it meant, sounded sinister though.
My Fundy brother said I should be shipped to an island along with all the other Godless liberals.

35. Wellll.....
I have this habit of not being able to walk past the press control console microphone without saying "Bush blows!" into it, and there are loudspeakers the length of the pressroom and down in the reelroom, and the guy who told me I was being too vocal was the publisher who happened to be cutting through the reelroom at just the wrong moment.
Now I'm only vocal when I know where he is because it's his microphone. :eyes:

18. No, but I did find a nice little note on my windshield today.
Some freeper wrote me a nice little note and left if on my windshield while I was in class today, apparently in response to my anti-Bush and Democratic bumperstickers.

It's the first time I've had something like that happen. Nothing worse so far.

25. Yes. I Received An Anonymous Death Threat At Work.
After Michael Moore spoke at a local college. I was at the Moore speech, got my pic in a local paper, along with a fairly mild quote.

A few days later, I found a crude death threat on my desk at work. My pic from the paper and Moore's face were copied, our eyes were crossed out like dead cartoon characters, and the threat extended to my family if I did't shut my #$%^& liberal mouth.

I took it to the police and human resources. The police did nothing, but human resources gave me a shit load of paid time off and then transferred me into a better job in another division.

Stupid fucking freeper! Practically handed me a promotion! LOLOL!

30. this is why i don't do bumperstickers
. . . wish I could but I drive cars with custom paint . . if someone keys it things could get really ugly.

I do wear the most offensively liberal t-shirts I can though whenever I go somewhere public . . . never been challenged on that. My main goal is just to plant the seed in people's narrow minds that liberals are proud and aren't the hippie pasty wimps that they wish we were.

It's funny how many of these stories are harrasment through some kind of buffer. . . people will yell at you when driving, leave a note, or mess with your car when you aren't around but don't have the courage to argue in person.

33. It was like that at the inauguration.
The red staters wisely weren't too vocal when they realized they were greatly outnumbered and the one who did run her stupid yap incited more laughter than anger because . . . well, she was a talking-point-spewing moran and woefully ill-informed.

I don't do bumperstickers either because if these assholes can get away with stealing the sign out of my yard twice, who's to stop them from tossing a rock at my window in a drive-by?

32. Yes, a gang of Republican Youth Corps folks kept driving by...
...my Kerry signed place late one night just before the elex, shouting threats. In the morning, our place had been vandalized, trash thrown everywhere, the signs were gone. It was a pretty restless night for me. Scary stuff. At one point I was in the shadows in my yard when they all got out of the car -- six of them -- and milled about for a bit.

I went to GOP headquarters in town and told them I would never support a party that raised it's youth that way. Then got some more signs and put them up.

I now have some small understanding of how a black family must have felt when the cross burners came.

The small-minded bastards!

39. Yes, I had some Nazi youth from Rollins college
(college for wealthy white kids) try to run me off the road in their Lincoln Navigator, all the while screaming out their window "FUCKING COMMIE KERRY LOVER! DIE YOU COMMIE BITCH"!!! I just smiled and waived, but wouldn't budge off the road (they came within an inch or so of my drivers side doors). I was hoping they would go ahead and hit me; there would have been loads of witnesses, and I need a new car anyway. ;-)

42. Nope. Ridiculed, yes. Threatened, no.
Just let 'em TRY!!! There's one thing these red-state assholes respect, and that's someone who won't back down to their bullshit!

I just bombard them with facts. They finally run out of "counters" and just grin sheepishly and shake their heads. (After all, a lifetime of bias is hard to break through... they prefer the safety of the views they grew up with, and they don't like to think too deeply about anything.)

And the very best trump card to play in countering one of these assholes is, "Okay, pal, any time you want to learn Spanish, I know a good class you can attend. Viva Jorge Arbusto, su presidente!" Heh heh. They can't deny that Jorge is filling the country with Mexicans. (That doesn't bother me... that's the beauty of it.) They are fearful that Mexicans will "take over" everything. It's fun to watch their fear.
