Campaigns To Remember --- Best??? |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 05:15 PM by economic justice
I read recently where the best presidential general election campaigns in modern times (according to a group of campaign consultants)were:
1) Clinton-Gore 1992 2) Reagan-Bush 1984 3) Clinton Gore 1996 4) Nixon-Lodge 1960 (even in losing effort...very close) 5) Nixon-Agnew 1972
What is interesting is this: The major theme in EVERY ONE of those campaigns was a broad appeal to the middle class.
What do you think? Who can best appeal to the middle class in 2004?

It's a pretty solid ticket.
Tax cuts for middle class Increased education/healthcare funding Military service and national security credentials Appealing individuals Strong 'family' types Working class roots
... and more.

1972 was Nixon/Agnew. Ford became VP after Agnew resigned in 1973 and Prez when Nixon resigned in 1974
