Is John Edwards Against Renewable Energy?
In June of 1999, Senator Jeffords (R-VT) was prepared to offer an amendment which would have added $62 million to the Energy Department solar and renewable energy programs.

Edwards voted to table (kill) the amendment. Kerry voted to keep the amendment alive.

2. I don't know
about that vote,
but this is what his website says:

Renewable Energy
Edwards believes that we should set ambitious and achievable standards that will allow the country to move away from our dependence on fossil fuels. He has been a strong supporter of using cleaner-burning ethanol, and supports the creation of new biorefineries to transform agricultural wastes - like corn husks, rice straw and wood chips - into energy.

If you're going to keep trotting out these votes, I think you'll find plenty where John Edwards voted with his more conservative constituency in North Carolina.

Every vote in the Senate is not made on the basis of ideology. If it were, no bill would ever get passed. There is no way you will find the true answer to your question without speaking to Senator Edwards himself and the legislative assistant who was working on this issue at the time.

You won't likely find the answers to your questions from people on DU, although I promise I will try.

5. And if you don't take donations from DC lobbyists and PACs, your vote will
reflect more precisely the economic interests of your state's citizens.

4. Is Edwards for the Little Guy?
That thread from a few minutes ago?

How many of these untruths about Edwards are going to be debunked?

6. You might want to
look this bill up on thomas.loc.gov and read the history. Senator Jeffords did offer an amendment (actually 12 amendments rolled into 1) and the vote was not to kill the amendment but to kill a Jeffords motion to recommit the bill back to the committee (which would have killed the entire bill including all of the things many Democrats had fought for. Jeffords was just being a spoiler. Others that voted with Edwards were: Daschle, Moynihan, Sarbanes and Torcelli
