The greatest thing about Dean: |
|
His faults are endearing.
This piece I just watched on CNN...the whole thing was them going over his "gaffes." But, I swear to God...every shot of him he was smiling that goofy smile. And he was so damned sincere. He's so damned likable, and honest.
I don't see how anyone- I mean ANYONE- could watch that guy and say, "I don't like him" or "I don't trust him." The guy speaks his mind, but admits his faults and is self-deprecating.
He's just great. Even through all of the crap in that CNN piece, the tone was, "This guy's different, but he's a good guy."

1. Yes, he is a real person. |
|
He has managed to be a politican and not give away his soul for power. He's a huge asset to our side.

2. Did you read his article in Vanity Fair |
|
about the poor in America? It was an excellent piece with incredible black and white photographs to illustrate it. It was published in 2004. He is a very good writer. Dean speaks about his experience as a doctor treating the poor in both urban and rural areas.

I'll try to look it up tonight and post the article title and the month it was published. I save the previous years issues. It may be online somewhere.

for us. The more personal exposure he gets, the better.
He can bridge this gap.

4. I know I've said this before...but what the heck |
|
My husband and I met him in March of 2003 - he was still pretty much a no-name in Iowa and spent about 30 minutes talking w/my husband about our county and who to contact and the fun ground-laying stuff needed.
We've kept in contact the last two years...emailing back and forth up to the 4th of February, and he has not changed a bit.
He asks questions, offers assistance and is just a neat person.
We are two of MILLIONS that I am sure Dean keeps in touch with. He's amazing!

6. You've made a good point. |
|
He may be a harder target to hit than one might at first imagine. And how many weeks can they replay the scream to any effect before people tune out? it's so 2004.
Plus there are many ordinary, non-political people who LIKE his direct, 'tell it as he sees it' style. Any one who has ever worn a Dean button in public quickly learns that.

I'm seriously listening to it over and over. I can't get enough of it.
It's just the straight truth. It's our values. It makes me cry.

24. Hey! What gives? I got crappy jazz music with NO Dean at all -- |
|
And after spending a lot of time on very slow dial-up downloading too. That was d.mp3.
(I LOATHE jazz, absolutely loathe it. Bad enough there was no Dean after all that time -- truly horrible it was jazz.)

13. Well I have to say I have always found him a bit goofy |
|
I have also found his voice grating and sometimes whiny, negatively affecting my reception of his message, and that didn't play well when contrasted with my impressions of Kerry. I am not looking to argue anything here or pick a fight or anything like that, and I will admit these are shallow objections- I am just stating my observations and prejudices, and it is a response to: "I don't see how anyone..." Well, I'm one. I know he's a good guy, but I never found his faults endearing.

17. Bull, you are so right. Upon meeting him the first time, my first thought |
|
was, "This is a guy you could hang out with, have over, play cards etc..." There was no "all powerful and knowing" type awe. Just a guy who really seemed to care. Who seemed just as passionate for change as the ground troops who supported him. I agree. I had tears in my eyes seeing the picture of him with his thumbs up and that silly, funny grin after he was elected.
:toast: To you Bull, and to everyone who deserves to see this happen.

19. The thing I like about Dean |
|
Is how he doesn't ignore areas in the country. I've heard a lot of success stories with his organization. From what I've heard he does listen to people and I loved when he was talking at the DNC meeting this morning when he was officially chairman he said how it was OUR chair and not just him. He doesn't put up with any b.s. as proved in his first press conference as DNC chairman. Plus I love how he energizes everybody to fight for what we believe in and he isn't afraid to talk about what he believes in as a person and our values as a party. As I've told others who aren't democrats they're going to be surprised and I can't wait! :bounce:

23. Yup, he absolutely DOES listen and he DOES mean it when he says |
|
it's "OUR chairmanship." He was that way about his candidacy too, and talked like that even when it sounded funny and almost inappropriate. He is very, very much into power-sharing, and I predict it's going to be a wonderful Renaissance for the Democratic Party -- like the Phoenix rising from the ashes. And ain't it ABOUT time?
