New name for Gannon Scandle MANGAYTE
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 06:11 PM by Botany
Come on; It would stick like glue to those bastards.

Do not forget that "they" gave out band aids to make fun of
Kerry's wounds in Vietnam.

We can not let Rove kill this topic.

1. Already dead.
Face it folks, we've already been taken over. Nothing's going to stick to this fool, because they already own everything and everyone.

3. I have not been taken over.
And neither have you.

We have to fight.

2. I don't like it
I don't care if the guy is or isn't gay. The important issue is what Gannon exemplifies about White House efforts to create a fraudulent, alternate reality system of news reporting.

4. Exactly.
The gay aspect is what the Republicans want to use as cover. Bullshit. It's about lying, propaganda, etc., etc., etc. The gay thing is just extremely ironic.

5. But the gay aspect is relevent to Mangayte
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 06:21 PM by Botany
bush and company used gays as the new "Red Menace" in the last election.
It was just high tech McCarthyism, nothing more.

We live in a sound bite world and Rove is a master of disinformation ....
we have to beat them face to face at their own game.

btw the Mangayte morphed from Mangate at the idea of a gay man.

7. Those are empty issues that Republicans either exploit or ignore
like Clinton's philandering. Schwarzenegger's history of sexual assault doesn't stop conservatives from supporting him. Just because Republicans focus on nonsense doesn't mean that we need to. It's not going to make a real difference and it detracts from the more serious issue at hand: separation between press and the state, the perversion of truth itself.

6. I'm sick of '-gate' scandals. I prefer "PropaGannon"
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 06:30 PM by Technowitch
Besides, it's been three decades since the Nixon junk. We need a new name for a new era -- and a new low in ethics and morality.

Also, I'm tired of gays/lesbians being held up as something shameful. Gannon's shame is in writing such vituperatively anti-gay editorials, when it appears he himself may be gay.

In other words, it's the hypocrisy, not the sexual orientation.

8. Great post!
Focusing on the gay aspect of this story fuels homophobia and is a distraction of the very chilling aspect of how far this administration will go to legitimize their propaganda. "PropaGannon" is a far better catchphrase and clearly illustrates the problem.

I have to say, that I am disappointed with how many people on this board prefer to pursue the "gay' aspect of this story.

10. As long as it sticks fine .... but
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 07:10 PM by Botany
3 points ....
1. The gay aspect is in play because "they" put it in play. Not by me or some
liberal blogger but by the repugs. I saw how "they" used issue 1 in Ohio.... Use their wedge issues against them.
2. Yes the use of gate is old but it works ..... Rove works on keeping it
simple
3. These are evil people and playing by the rules of civility will just be seen
as being weak and "they" will crush us.

Bottom line this scandal can bring down bush. We have to use it.

11. I agree that the gay angle is ironic - the real story is
fake reporter w/fake credentials given info on the Plame leak. I think the Plame leak should be the most important aspect to focus on.

12. From Blog America on the same issue
Speaking as a veteran journalist, you need to explore MORE salacious detail, not less.

You bloggers are dipping your toes into muckraking, an old and proud style of journalism back in America's robber barons days. Jump in the water, already!

This White House is hell bent on returning to those feudal labor days, so make no apologies for raking muck like the great Upton Sinclair, Jacob Riis and Ida Tarbell.

The White House has spun a spider web. "Oh, what a web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." It's the whole web, not the parts, that hold the prey. Every piece of the web you break will lead you to another, and will eventually free America from its grips.

Gan-uckert's sexual orientation will lead you to lots of stuff in Washington, including the man who my hunch tells me gave Guckert the Plame memo, which I think Joe Wilson said Guckert had in his hand during an interview. That memo didn't fly over in the form of a paper airplane.

If I'm correct, it'll start a resounding explosion and you'll see rats fleeing a sinking ship, with lots and lots of tales to tell.

Those websites also may lead you to a kickback scheme that may have been the source of income for "quasi-criminal" government operations, and for the wholly criminal vote-rigging scam that has been giving the GOP illegitimate election wins for years.

Don't be afraid to find out about Guckert's past and his family, either. Are his parents wealthy? Did he get in trouble as a young adult? These are the types that have been sent for some 20'ish years to Ivanwald, where a journalist who spent time there undercover learne that young men are taught fundamental fascism using Christian terminology, loyalty above all.

I wondered why the old Franklin coverup story was posted, then I started thinking about what officials had White House access during the Reagan/Bush years and during the Bush/Cheney regime. Cheney and Rummy are two such names, and there are unanswered questions about their histories.

However, many Bush 41s are in the Bush 43 White House, some with felony convictions. It's a motley crew.

Don't be subdued: We have nuts in power, and the nuttier they get, the more we have turned our heads. Sen. Warner (R-Va.) reserved a room last spring in the Senate's Dirksen building, where 12 or so senators and congressmen participated in a literal coronation of the sex fiend Rev. Moon as the second coming of Christ! Does it get any nuttier than that, and do you need more proof that politics, sex and religion are interconnected in whatever this is that has taken over our beloved country?

You are a great American who has just begun your work, my friend. Don't let the bastards get you down.

13. if muck is what it takes
then i say we give them muck.

that doesn't mean it isn't true. with this gang, the most disgusting and outrageous seems to be their norm.

and THIS gay says that if the gay angle can help bring them down, then i willingly go along. after all, it's not the gayness of the angle, it's the hypocrisy.
