Blue State Repugs - 2006 - It's Time to GO
Just did a search on senators up for reelection in 2006. You would not believe the sites where they are gathering dirt and momentum on OUR senators.

Let's get OUR act together and start doing what we do best -- research - to find the weaknesses, the obsure votes they hope no one will notice.

Blue Staters up for reelection. Santorum (PA), Ensign (NV), Dewine (OH), Chafee (RI), Snow (ME). (We really won NV and OH )

All up for reelection -

Hello New England, help is on the way. Just PM me and I'll mobelize the troops.

I am convinced that winning back the House (at a minimum) is the key to saving our Republic.

Just think what we can accomplish with

CONYERS in charge of Judiciary.

WAXMAN in charge of Reform.

SLAUGHTER in charge of Rules!!!!!

5. Duh ! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction !!!
P.S. I'm from CT, was just there for the weekend. They (my family in friends hate Joe) so I have a good feeling that whole thing may take care of itself. Tres liberal -- they can have anyone they want and don't need a bush ring kisser.

P.P.S. love your enthusiasm !!!

6. In the meantime,
I'm still holding out hope that Chafee and/or Snow might jump ship and pull another Jeffers on the Republicans. Am I correct that they are both quite moderate? Not that this should be our primary or sole objective, but it would be a great start, and a jump on changing the dynamic in the Senate before '06. If one or more do change their stripes, I think it best to encourage them, and if they merely go independent, perhaps we should refrain from putting up our own candidate. You can bet the stood-up Repubs will run someone against them, and perhaps we shouldn't divide the opposition and in effect help the Repub get that seat back.

Just a thought, still some time until '06.

14. If they stay in the Republican camp,
or even if they go independent we can field a strong progressive who has a legit shot at taking the seat, by all means lets get some real Democrats on the ticket. However, if they go independent and we cause their defeat and ours with a weak candidate, perhaps we would be better off throwing our support their way to prevent a real right-wing nut from getting their seat. (But of course, it's all academic if we stay away from any weak candidates.)

10. Chafee was on one of the Sunday news shows today
Was asked about his November 2003 remark. He did not retract it, just said a few words in support of the Governor and some local office holders.

I agree, I think Chaffee and Snow could be won over.

What about Collins?

12. good points. but so far neither of them have crossed the line,
have they? I don't know, it still seems like in RI, for instance, we should be able to get a liberal demo? maybe even PA. I have a theory about PA, though. I think they let us have that one. They didn't have the all out disenfranchisement machine going there. And of course we won. And that whole night I was thinking how could ohio be that different being right next door. I would like to see us focus on the states we know we probably won, if there was no fraud. FL, OH, IA, NV, NM, Maybe CO & MO - but I'm slipping into presidential election - sorry.

the independent thing you mention is interesting. did you see Christie Todd Whitman on C-SPAN. She hinted that there could be a revolt of moderate republicans -- thinks the neocons and fundies have taken over.

13. I missed the C-Span spot, but I have heard that projection before.
No one has crossed the line yet, but who knows what might happen between now and '06. I'd rather have a congress full of strong liberal progressives, but I'll settle for some DINO's and Dem-leaning independants over hard-line right-wing Repubs any day!

8. Philly TV station was talking about Specter's health.....
and the possibility of his health causing him to step down thereby giving Rendel the power of appointment to fill out his term. They mentioned Barbara Hafer as a payback for her stepping aside for Casey to go against Santorum. If the cards are dealt right, we could see the Keystone State going from two red to two blue Senators over the next year and a half to two. That would be awesome, baby!!!

15. I don't care if they are moderate or independent,
unless and until we have their ironclad pledge to vote for dem control of the senate, they are in the way and must go!

And I'm not as picky as I used to be about which dems we run, as long as they can win. Once we have control back, we can do a lot more good for everyone even with a couple of DINOs in the deck.

We must have the Senate! Then and only then will we have the luxury to fine tune the "purity" of our candidates.
