Arizona Young Dem barred from Propaganda Rally.
Bush’s SS Campaign Disses Young American

Tucson, AZ – President Bush’s taxpayer funded Social Security “Forum” in Tucson today did not welcome young American Steven Gerner, who was quietly standing in line waiting to hear the President deliver a speech that he felt he needed to pay close attention to. Gerner, 19, was one of 1400 Tucsonans who properly obtained a ticket to the tightly screened forum, but he would not get the chance to actually make it inside the event. The reason: Steven was wearing a University of Arizona Young Democrats t-shirt.

Twenty minutes before the doors opened for the Tucson Civic Center forum, an event staffer approached Steven, asked for a better view of his t-shirt, then demanded his ticket.

“When the staffer took my ticket, he literally crumpled it up in his hand and then walked away. I was too shocked and frankly too disappointed to even do or say anything.” said Steven Gerner, a University of Arizona student.

The staffer returned twenty minutes later, told Gerner that his name had been “reported” and warned that there was no way he could gain entry into the event.

2. Well, yeah
Its a public brainwashing session. They want an audience that is receptive to their ideas, because they don't want to have to waste time dealing with annoyances like skepticism, logic, and reason.

4. So much for freedom of speech...
I'll say what I said in another thread: This scares me and makes me really pissed off at the same time.

5. I don't understand Shrub's logic on this.
Isn't the purpose of him flying all over the country supposed to be to convince people that he's right about this SS thing?

If he onloy speaks to people who already support him, what's the point?

I would think a young (isn't that the ones he's trying to convince the most)democrat would be an ideal candidate for conversion.

What am I missing???

13. It's to create the illusion that he is trying to convince people.
The idea is to create the idea of "look at all these people. They're sold on this plan, and so should I be".

7. Taxpayer funded.
That's the key to this whole disgusting charade. As such, it's ILLEGAL to forbid entry to ANYONE based on their political affiliation. It's a public event, and must be open to everyone. God, I can't wait 'til the whole stinking pack of them are rotting in Leavenworth.

8. I'll say what I said in the other thread
Young Democrats should be exempt from the draft since they aren't a part of "Bush's world", nor should they be part of his wargames.

9. That happened to me back in August.
I can clearly remember that I was wearing a plain (holy republican) red t-shirt and black jeans. My ticket was torn up and I was told to leave the area (i.e. go beyond the edge of the police cordon), or I would be arrested. I was 17-years-old at the time and too young to vote in the election, but I was apparently on "The List" (you know the one) ;)

10. Can't people sue for being barred from these events which
are aimed at discussing this "plan" with the entire population? These are not Republican fundraising events.
