Imagine Mort, a 110-year old man trying to look like Dick Clark.
But then again, isn't Dick Clark approaching 110 himself?

7. Look, Clark Took 5 Bullets Tonight |
|
I am repeating this because I feel sort of numb about the whole thing.
Clark took that crap he knew was coming... and he did it for US.
I am going to have a hard time not getting provoked next time someone on this forum starts disrespecting Wes.

22. All of them deserve medals for putting up with this s$%t!! |
|
All of them have been insulted, slighted, misrepresented, misquoted, and generally disrespected in a hundred different ways. The media enjoys its little game as king-maker, and it has been showing. If it were me I would have punched somebody out a long time ago.
While I don't agree with all of them, and they all have their faults, I feel that all of them honestly want to make life better for all of us and for our nation. We're lucky that we have folks this brave, forthright, intelligent and qualified to make this attempt against the walls of Bush's fortress of money and corporate power.
All of them deserve a great deal of respect and gratitude and I wish them all well.
P.S. For the record, Wes did great. F@#k the Faux toads.

8. I liked Clark's reply. |
|
Just as I liked Dean's reply a ways back about 911 and Bush prior knowledge. I thought Clark answered the question perfectly. I thought Clark was a bit stymied by the question about his Republican past, but not the Moore question. Leave it to Fox to spin that.

Don't pass me by don't make me cry don't make me blue Cause you know darling I love only you You'll never know it hurt me so how I hate to see you go Don't pass me by, don't make me cry
I'm sorry that I doubted you I was so unfair You were in a car crash and you lost your hair You said that you would be late about an hour or two I said that's alright I'm waiting here just waiting to hear from you
Don't pass me by don't make me cry don't make me blue Cause you know darling I love only you You'll never know it hurt me so how I hate to see you go Don't pass me by, don't make me cry

17. The problem is dogmatic belief in the "rightness" of the right |
|
I've been talking at length with a very reasonable (relative) right winger in my office, and I've come to understand that right wingers will just attack anything that violates their canon of belief, regardless of evidence or logical argument to the contrary. I believe this trait holds true in the majority of right wingers.
For instance, Dean was castigated by the right for merely stating that a theory existed that Bush knew that something was happening in early September 2001. There's several pieces of evidence to indicate that this might be the case, and no evidence to support the contrary, but the right doesn't want to live in a world where the president might be guilty of this level of incompetence, so you get a violent negative reaction. The more evidence there is, the more hostile it gets.
Moore made his statement on Bush's possible AWOL/desertion. Four years later it still hasn't been resolved and the evidence points towards something being wrong. In the world of the right, their man would never be AWOL, so anyone who would suggest otherwise is a "Kool-Aid Sipper". Its not the evidence or logic that is faulty, it is the right's inability to see beyond their dogmatic projections on the subject at hand.
You can see the problem inherent in the Iraq debacle.
I've seen this reaction pattern from several otherwise very intelligent and sensible people.

18. he was given a pitch down the middle and fouled it off |
|
and fouled it off his foot.
If he believes it, say it, if not, say that too.
If you're afraid of offending the Michael Moore bloc then you have no business standing up there. That was one endorsement he should have declined. There was no possible good that could come of it.

|
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 11:46 PM by LuminousX
I know most of those Democratic voters out there are thinking that exact same thing I am.
They put Clark in a tight corner. He punted. It was the correct thing to do. I don't like the guy, but god damn it if I'm going to let Fox News deny me the right to not vote for him. Fox News can shove it up their asses. Clark is one of ours when he is on that stage and I'm not going to let a piss ant talking head play the role of poisoner.
