I admit, BushCo has got the cynic in me working overtime. As over-the-top as the 24/7 Distract-A-Thon is, the Hartford Courant (Tribune Media Company) ran a massive, half-page above-the-fold color picture of mourners, mostly old haggard women, sobbing hysterically and touching a portrait of the Pope. Well, sure, I kinda expected that on the day of his funeral. But I looked closer...something was odd about the pic. The women looked -- different -- than what I expected to see in Rome.

Oops...read the caption!

The photo was of IRAQ -- the caption spoke of the Iraqi catholics in town square morning the Pope, yet there was no story to go with it. So everybody, I guess things are all better "over there." Iraq catholics are now free of the evil tyranny of Saddam, to sob openly in the streets for...oh, wait, Iraq was a secular state before our invasion. They could do that before, right? Or do some really believe they were hauled off to the rape rooms for such displays?
