I would describe them as indispensable.
Walter Karp's book is a classic about the two-party system, and "Dime's Worth of Difference" gives more recent evidence of those exact problems. LaDuke's book is about how indigenous peoples are under attack all over the world--it is an overview of capitalist imperialism and how it has always been, and still is our primary foreign policy, as well as the policy of many other countries.
"An Act of State" is about our government's involvement in the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., written by the attorney who proved that involvement in court. "Out of Control" is about Iran-Contra, and since the same crjminals are now back in power, I'd recommend it highly.
