Should getting Delay be our number one goal? |
|
Not our only number one goal but getting rid of him would be a huge blow to the republican party and would show that the people are tired of this congress. Who will run against him? I'm in Alabama but will work to get rid of him.

1. I don't think getting rid of him |
|
should be our number 1 goal, but I'm not much of a political strategist.
I think he might be useful hanging around the neck of TOM DELAY'S REPUBLICAN PARTY, rotting carcass that he is.

11. No, our number one goal should be getting rid of fraudulent elections. |
|
However, Delay is one of the keys to getting a few changes. Let's let the GOP take care of him, though. He's made more enemies on his own side of the aisle than on ours, and I do think his own party will take care of him.
The push now is to get him out his leadership position in Congress while leaving him in office and in control of party purse strings. I sincerely doubt they're going to be able to pull that off due to the sheer number of enemies that man has.
Once Delay is gone, the edifice of GOP solidarity will start to crumble, and the Texas mafia will find themselves having to fight for every little thing.
Payback will be a bitch, too.

20. You beat me to it BUT - Delay is a large opponent of election reform |
|
He made some disgusting remarks on Jan. 6th about the Dem challenge to the certification of the OH electoral votes. He was rather nasty and vile - his usual self.
Make no bones about it - Delay is an obstacle to election reform. He knows, I'm sure, that if election reforms are passed, his ass would be out the door.
So, I've been working with folks who are trying to remove him. May have to slack up a bit because of an upcoming NC vote but Delay needs to go.
He is an enemy to the election reform movement.

2. Definately a top priority |
|
Apparently, the guy who ran against him last year got 41% of the vote, and now less than 1/2 of DeLay's district says they'll vote for him. I think we should target EVERYONE tainted by him, all his deputies and vocal supporters. Especially his deputies from moderate districts like Deborah Pryce, whose district actually went for Kerry in 2004, and her lobotomized opponent got over 40% despite having no cash or campaign.

there. DeLay actually works in our favor. Let him go down slow. The courts will get him. He will only champion our points that the party he runs is nuts. We have to fill our own vacuum with what we believe and want to do.

5. We need to use him as the way they use Ted Kennedy |

Republicans love the line "More liberal than Teddy Kennedy". We need to use the line "More corrupt and more fascist than Tom DeLay".

Winning majorities in both houses of Congress should be our number one goal.
If getting DeLay fits into that, by all means get him. He can be had.

7. He's the low-hanging fruit. We need to take him down first, |
|
then use him as a symbol of the corruption in this administration to topple the GOP power-lock.
The ultimate goal should be to impeach Bush and Cheney, and to convince Republicans in Congress that the only way to restore honor and trust in their party is to enact real electoral reforms that assure honest elections. Rigged ones give us what we've got now: rampant corruption and fanaticsm.

DeLay is slowly going down. He will be a good example of what happens to people when they get power hungry and think they are above the law and if any republican tries it we can align them with DeLay. Cheney already gave him the boot.

13. No, his stink should hang around for as long as possible. |
|
His name (image) needs to penetrate the public. He is something we can run against. Voters have a short attention span so he needs to be ousted from leadership at the last possible moment.
In addition, getting rid of him does not get rid of the problem. It will just clean up their party image but not change the reality. The goal has got to be to take back the House and having him around in leadership will help that cause.

By the time he goes to the pen (which I think he really should and actually may) they will have all denounced him to the point that the sheeple won't realize that they're all one and the same.

he's hurting the whole Repub party now. Let it spread around a bit. He's toast already, so since it's only a matter of time, let's see what further damage he can do to the GOP.

Honest elections needs to be our number one goal. Giving back people the right to vote. We can't do a thing unless we get elections back. Then we help take scum like Delay down.
And just a reminder. Bush and his ilk are bullies. Once they go down, they go down hard.

19. No TACTICAL objective should take precedence over STRATEGIC objectives |
|
Getting rid of Delay (or whomever)...or getting Democrat-x (or whomever)...or getting issue-y (or whatever) should NOT be our "Number One Goal".
Our Number One Goal needs to be to achieve a strategic re-alignment of the American Electorate so that getting rid of Delay, and getting Democrat-x elected, and passing issue-y are natural results.
We need to look for fundamental issues that will yield strategic leverage and work toward those goals. Republicans could never have gotten where they are today by focusing on one tactical issue at a time.

Keep your eyes on the prize!
The prize will be building a direct counter to the right-wing usurption of democratic ideals and getting ahead of the curve in the nation's political discussion.
