VA: Poll Shows Kilgore-Rep Leading Kaine-Dem
not sure how reliable this poll is and it's Rasmussen. it's also early. but still thought it was worth a look.

<Polling for the 2005 gubernatorial race in Virginia is relatively rare, so any poll is interesting. The Rasmussen poll, with a margin of error of 4.5%, is showing Republican Jerry Kilgore leading Democrat Tim Kaine 44% to 36%. "Other," presumably "Independent Republican" third party candidate Russ Potts, polls 5%.

Some other tidbits from Rasmussen:

Forty-nine percent (49%) of Virginia have a favorable opinion of Kilgore while 33% have an unfavorable opinion. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure.

For Kaine, the numbers are 44% favorable, 31% unfavorable, and 25% not sure.

The state's current Governor, Democrat Mark Warner, is viewed favorably by 65% of the state's voters.Twenty-six percent (26%) have an unfavorable view.

President Bush is viewed favorably by 56% and unfavorably by 43%.

Virginia voters go to the polls on June 14th to choose candidates. While Kaine is unopposed and Kilgore faces only token opposition, polling after the primary, when interest is high, will probably tell us where the race really stands.>
