9.  Have you ever smelled the air on the last N.J. exit on I-95,
just before New York City????? damn sure makes me want to hug a tree somewhere else...love those oil refineries!...After Living near Harrisburg in the late 70's....let's put two nuclear power stations in every red state. But somehow I'm sure that it's homosexuals, and godless people, as well as liberals that caused this.....Why do these people always have to have a scape-goat I,m totally sick of this polarization that passes for news.

Valero to Buy Premcor for $6.9 Bln in Cash, Stock (Update14)  Listen

April 25 (Bloomberg) -- Valero Energy Corp. agreed to buy Premcor Inc. for $6.9 billion in cash and stock to become the largest U.S. refiner as record prices for gasoline and other fuels boost profits.
...

The purchase, which will push Valero past ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp. in U.S. refining capacity, is the biggest takeover yet for Chief Executive William Greehey, who spent more than $7.5 billion since 1998 on acquisitions. Rising demand for fuel to run cars, trucks and factories pushed U.S. refining margins to a record last year.

``All these refiners and oil companies are drowning in cash, more cash than they know what to do with, and that's part of what's driving this,'' said William Andrews, who helps manage $4 billion, including shares of ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil Corp., at C.S. McKee & Co. in Pittsburgh.

Valero, Exxon Mobil, France's Total SA, Saudi Aramco and other energy companies are increasing production to capitalize on rising demand for fuel in Asia, the U.S. and South America. Demand growth is outpacing output increases after two decades of low profits discouraged investments in refining
