8. I just saw that video and I think it was great

I think this is exactly the kind of music/art/lyrics and performer any movement will need. I am shocked and stunned that he performed on Leno with those very strong lyrics. How did that happen? I am impressed by this young man

Although I like music with a beat and all kinds of music, I think this is important for any entertainer who hopes to convey a political message: ONE CAN UNDERSTAND THE WORDS Bright Eyes is singing/chanting. Clearly--- and because of that, people will remember these lyrics. He is also quite good looking, young and capable of a following amongst the younger crowd and old ladies like me.

is what Leno said by way of introduction. I'm not so sure that this was a surprise, actually. Maybe Leno wanted the song on, but wanted to keep a safe distance from it in case the shit hit the fan...

11. A bit of trivia on the phrase at the end of the song last night

Posted this on a similar thread in General Discussion this morning.

The phrase "Fil mish, mish" that Bright Eyes said at the end of the song is an Arabic colloqualism that is most often heard in rural ("fellahin") communities in places like Lebanon, Jordan and the Palestinian territories.

It means impossible to the point of being laughable.

I thought it was a fantastic touch.
