I predict that Jerry Springer will be the Democratic Rush Limbaugh. He is
very, very good and has name recognition. Even though he was in media before, it will still take him a little time to get his radio "sea-legs."

I think we have only seen the beginning of our very own Democratic Super Star! We sure need one.

1. I normally despise his television show, but
his politics rule. I think you may be right about him. He can get the point across very well from the times I have heard him talk about politics on television in the past.

2. Ya know, I resisted Jerry for a while...
...because I really liked Rachel and Unfiltered, not to mention Jerry's rep in regards to his TV show. However, I have to admit he is VERY good, fun to listen to, as well as very informed.

3. Now that we have stories of * jerking off horses...
we might start seeing Jerry fuse his tv show with the new AAR gig.

Today's show:

"HELP!! MY MAN RAN OFF WITH MISTER ED!!!"

4. yes, yes, yes!
I love Jerry talking politics. I do hope he becomes as big a name in radio as Limbaugh...I think his show will always be a bit more honest than Limbaugh's tho...

7. I know this sounds silly-butI like his voice. This from a Southerner that
a yankee accent usually gets on my nerves!

I think that will be one of his many draws-that nothing will really stick to him - his old tv show, his acent or whatever.

Nothing sticks to Rush - his being a dope addict, married a hundred times so forth and so on.

About time we had our own guy that is "teflon."

10. Radio piece on Jerry
Hey patricia, I've posted this a few times before, but in case you haven't heard it, do listen to this 31 minute piece on Jerry before the TV show from NPR's This American Life:
http://207.70.82.73/pages/descriptions/04/258.html

I had really known nothing about Jerry until I heard this a while back. I've never watched the TV Show but I know I hate it. :)

When I listened to this, I was really impressed. He's a good guy and after hearing this, I felt bad and sad for him. He didn't set out to make the TV show a trash show. Things happened, decisions were made, and I know he has to live with the consequences of those decisions but he I think he really deserves better than the reputation he's got for that godawful show. I'm so happy he's got the AAR gig and I wish him only the best. He's smart and he's good and his heart is in the right place.

15. Just got home from work and listened to the piece on Jerry Springer's life
I thought it was very informative on a guy we will be hearing a lot more about.

I, too, have never seen his show. I have seen him being interviewed, and they showed clips of the show. That is the only way I knew anything about it, so I'm not prejudiced against him.

I think he is doing a great job in helping to provide a voice for us Democrats, and I hope he will get more and more personal satisfaction from being a host on AAR.

Again, thanks for the clip - hope more of our posters here will take a few minutes and listen to it.

25. You might get to make more than one post about your drug-addled idol
and the "failure" of American liberalism, since it's so early on a weekend morning--good luck with that!

8. I think you might be right..
.... I've heard Springer a couple times in a political context and I think he is articulate, able to frame issues, able to speak on a level that most Americans can understand and generally a unconceited, likeable person.

I hope he hangs in there because we need folks like him and the Dem party seems to suffer from a dearth of his kind of talent.

9. Well, he's not v. charismatic for AM radio
"...it will still take him a little time to get his radio 'sea-legs.'"

I get his show 9 - 12 and sometimes listen in. Not anywhere near as funny and sarcastic as Liz and Rachel were (really miss that show). At least he's not screaming negativity a la Randi Rhodes, but instead presents the world's absurdity in nice, even tones. I think he also handles outlandish callers well.

If he's trying to be a lefty-Rush, I think he's got it nailed! Just doesn't hold my interest.

:)

13. Jerry likes George.
Yes, he does. I heard him say it last Saturday while doing my weekly grocery run.

No, he tepidly said that he doesn't like George's policies, but said that George was the kind of guy he'd Ñ wait for it Ñ like to sit down and have a beer with.

Feh.

18. I respectfully disagree.
I have listened to Springer on Air America for the past couple of weeks and I now turn him off. He is boring, repetitive and has a whiny weak voice that grates on me. If you are looking for a contrasting Rush type on the left look no further than Big Ed. Ed Schultz is as bombastic as Limpballs but speaks the truth instead.

20. Ditto on Big Ed
I haven't heard Springer on the radio, but Big Ed is full of life and bombast and I could easily see him at a tailgater drinking a beer with a Bushbot and convincing said bushbot that Bush is the worst thing since the Black Plague.

21. Give Jerry more time....
...The Murkin' sheeple gave Fatboy Limbaugh damn near 20 years to perfect his schtick, and the Self-Hating Jew has had a few years to hone his act and expand the Savage Nation...Hannity and Dildo Boy have been given time to get their chops on radio, but some want to turn off Jerry Springer after a few weeks!? Gimme a BREAK, and give Jerry a CHANCE! Radio and TV, as the Rush Limbaugh TV show so clearly proved!

22. Springer is great, but give Limbaugh his due.
As lead loudmouth of a bunch of ignorant sh*ttoheads, Limbaugh deserves a place in the liars Hall of Fame. Never have so many been so haplessly gulled by such two-bit blather. No one can make an idiot nod like Rush.

24. I think I've started anout 9 threads gushing over Jerry
He is an incredible communicator. He has intelligence, compassion, reason, and an uncanny ability to distill very grand ideas into an extremely succinct message. The masses will follow him and he is slowly describing the entire right wing agenda in painstaking detail. If he werfe not born in the UK I would think he could be presidnet. I know he does aspire to run for higher office in Ohio.

27. Like I said earlier...
to those who bag on Jerry Springer.....where were you when Porky Limbaugh started up? Granted, he was at the forefront of the rise of AM talk radio back in the late 80's, so I'll concede that....But how about Sean Hannity? Bill O'Reilly? Ken Hamblin? G.Gordon Liddy? Michael "the Self Hating Jew" Savage? Were you jumping on THEIR cases when THEIR propaganda-fests came out? Or were you quiet as friggin' church mice? Give the man the CHANCE you gave these neocon clowns!

Radio and TV are NOT the same, as the "Rush Limbaugh Show" clearly proved (that's what I meant to say in a previous post, LOL!)
