No matter how this primary turns out I will not apologize
for my support of Howard Dean.

I will not apologize for supporting the politician who supported me and other gays to a greater extent than any other.

I will not apologize for supporting the candidate who was right on the war (even as I had been wrong).

I will not apologize for having the termerity to go to other states and campaign for him (even as I am called a Storm Trooper for doing so).

I will not apologize for giving him money, writing letters on his behelf, and going to meet ups.

I will not apologize for any of it.

I am proud of the way he has campaigned and the way I have supported him here. I have nothing whatsoever to apologize for. You can call me names and demand loyalty oaths until the cows come home and give birth to aliens. I still won't apologize and I won't back down.

You will just need to get over it.

25. Why? On Tue and Wed,
there was a sense of shame being a self-confessed Dean supporter because everyone was laughing at him. I certainly felt it.

That seems to be fading quickly, due partly to Dean's taking the bulls by the horns yesterday.

At that's how I saw dsc's comment.

9. Indeed
None of us should ever have to apologize for any of the candidates.

We may pick and choose, switch or hold firm, but NO ONE should be made ashamed for supporting a Dem candidate -- any of them! If we start making each other ashamed for supporting Democrats, the Republicans have won.

10. You are right to have pride in your support of Dean.
I will not be casting my vote for him but I did send his campaign money and I was happy to go to rallies to show my support for his message.

I believe for many reasons, even before Iowa, that he is (was) unelectable but I appreciate one very importmant message that he brought to the debate. Democrat is not a rude word and Democratic policies are those to be proud of and not apologize for. He was very Wellstone-esque in this regard.

All of the candidates have points I agree with. I'm proud to be a member of a party that would hold any and all of them up for consideration.

11. There are people here who should be making apologies...
But that does not include you.

It is the bashers of this week who should be ashamed of themselves.

But we all know that they do not have the courage or dignity to even recognize the error of their ways.

We should pity them.

14. I respect your convictions
This race has a long way to go, so there is no need for you to apologize for supporting the candidate of your choice.

Of course, when a nominee is selected the criticism stops and we all unite around him. But that's then, and this is now.

19. Dean will go down in history as a man of balls.
regardless of whether he wins the nomination or not. The pink tu tu's would still be crying for their mamma's to save them from the big bad republicans if Dean had not lead the charge speaking up and challenging them..... Anybody can be a follower but not everybody can be a leader. The only apology should be from people who know better but yet fall in step with the establishment.

21. Dean was my man - no reason for you to apologize
I am considering others now as I do not think he will be around come my time to do something.

What I do not understand from reading on here is so many said that rove wanted Dean to be the candidate so who did in Dean? He see so different and fresh. I really liked how he has used the internet and we Gov Jesse I think be the first one to use it and win. Guess I am in shock about how fast Dean has fallen.

Do any of you think NH could be Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Joe, Clark. I was looking and many polls and things are changing fast and I think of Iowa.

22. If you'll allow,
I will never apologize for supporting a man whose policies reduced the rate of sexual abuse of children ages 0-3 by 84% and the rate of physical abuse among children age 0-3 by 65%. I would kneel down and kiss that man's feet.

No, I will not apologize, and <expletive> anyone who can't get over it.

23. My point, while inartfully expressed, is that
the way people have behaved here it is reasonable to think that several people here might be expecting that. To the extent that people may have been I intended to make it clear that they won't be getting it.

33. No apology needed... (but I have a teeny suggestion)
First off you need not apologize for supporting your candidate with that type of effort. It is great.

One little thing though,
"I will not apologize for supporting the candidate who was right on the war"

Might want to reword that to something like "I will not apologize for supporting A candidate who was right on the war"

Cheers,

TWL

35. Well

The 'Bush lite' allegations and the more general and pernicious mau-mauing Dean supporters engaged in for the past six months are still pretty fresh. The triumphalism, especially after the Gore endorsement, was also pretty vile and incompatible with liberalism.

Any boy can be obstinate, willful, demanding, and righteous. It takes a man- dignity- to acknowledge serious fault and take responsibility for it.
